"I'll be back in a minute." I say, smiling as I do.
"Okay," She replies, locking her cloudy grey eyes with mine, "Don't be too long."
"I won't." I flash a grin at her and bend down to place a kiss on her cheek. Then I wander through the crowds on my way to nearest fountain. I'd only just got Annabeth back, and already I missed her, but I had to do something. In all the excitement of the Greeks getting here, I had almost forgotten someone else very special to me. So the first chance I got, I borrowed a couple of drachma and set off to make a call.
I studied the fountain. It was like a combination of both cultures. Greek decorations but a Roman layout. It was fitting in a way. It united the two groups. I fished the first drachma out, said the blessing, and tossed the gold coin into the fountain's spray. I took a deep breath, preparing myself, before stating the address. Immediately, an image appeared. A kitchen, empty. I waited to see if anyone would come to the image, but nothing moved. I was about to give up on reaching them when I heard a gasp. Then, a face. I inhaled in shock. Gods. She hadn't changed. Same mischievous eyes, same laugh lines. The only and biggest difference was the way she looked, so lost, depressed, as if she was waiting on someone that would never come back. I realised with a jolt, that was me. She was waiting on me, and here I was.
"Mom?"
A smile broke across her face.
"Percy."
