So, I finished Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney. I'm pretty much obsessed with every Labyrinthian character and have 3 other stories planned (sorry)

Update: This was written soon after finishing the game, before the Bonus episodes were released (when I was still deciding on my headcanons). So, after seeing how certain characters act when they aren't part of the story, this chapter is quite Out of character for some.

I own nothing. I'm just biding my time writing fanfiction until my brother finishes the game so he can screech about the ending with me.

"Excuse me; I'm here for Project Labyrinthia. Is this where we apply?" The man smiled as the girl behind the counter rolled her eyes and placed her pencil behind her ear, a bored groan left her lips as she reached for another application sheet.

"I hope you know what you're getting yourself into." The man began scribbling on the paper, writing down his details. Details that soon wouldn't apply to him.

"Yeah, yeah, I read the poster. Hypnosis, amnesia, burning witches. Sounds like a regular Friday night for me." The girl scoffed and the look in her eyes told him she wasn't up for joking. "Sorry, sorry. But yes, I do know what this entails and I'm fine with it." When he was finished writing, the girl reached out her gloved hand and slid the paper back over to her side of the desk. "George Adla, huh?"

"Yep, that's my name. For now at least. " He almost felt sorry that he was leaving his entire life behind, but not sorry enough for it to make him change his mind. "What about you?"

"Eve Belduke. Though in this 'world' I'm known as Inquisitor Darklaw." She must have seen the confusion flash across George's face, as she answered the question that rung in his mind. "I know what you're thinking. I haven't been subjected to the hypnosis, I still remember my past. I'm only here because of my links to the town."

"So you aren't here by choice?"

"No, heaven knows why anyone would be." She began hole punching his application and leafing through a new file.

"We all have our reasons. Aftermath of relationships, not being able to get a job, making horrible mistakes, being hated… " Eve rested her chin in her hands and stared up at him.

"And what's yours?"

"All of the above." Eve's eyes widened and she went back to flipping through the file.

"I-I'm-"

"It's fine, I'm here for a change, there's no time to dwell on the past."

"O-okay." Eve nervously patted down her hair and handed him a small sheet of paper. "As you should know by now, everyone in town is assigned a role. After looking over your details, I think you'd suit this part just fine." George looked over the sheet; there were only a few lines of text.

"An inquisitor? Isn't that the same as yours?"

"Yes. It seems I will meet you again." George grinned at her, he wasn't complaining. He looked at the name written at the top and frowned in concentration. "Zacharias Barnham. I guess I could get used to that."

"If you're okay with all of this, please sign here and head towards that gate." She pointed to the place on the paper and then to the room behind her. He scratched his name into the sheet. "The last time I ever sign as that" he thought to himself.

"I'm glad to be given the chance of a new life. To you Miss Belduke" he bowed with a goofy smile on his face and an ancient tinge to his words "I wish you farewell, and hope that we may cross paths again as Sir Barnham and Lady Darklaw." With a flick of his hand he turned to the gate, and prepared to start again.

In case anyone was wondering, George Adla loosely means Knight of Justice.

Reviews would be awesome!
