Rainy Days

I don't own Avatar the last air bender.

This is just a short oneshot after the Tales of Ba Sing Sei. I might make a series similar to the idea of that particular eppisode. You know my own version. Your welcome to give me your oppinion but flames are not welcomed.

Summary: Set after Tales of Ba Sing Sei. Mild spoiler. Katara gazes out the window and remembers a time with her mom. Aang cheers her up by doing the unexpected.

It was a rainy day in Ba Sing Sei. Katara gazed out the window of their temporary house and listened to it as the rain fell on the roof. She watched as people hurried home to escape the weather. She giggled at a faint memory of her past.

"What are you thinking about?" A voice said behind her.

Katara turned her head and saw Aang watching her. His eyes held curiosity and warmth.

She smiled and said. "The rain reminds me of home. When I was little, my mom and I would stand outside and feel the rain on our skin. We laughed and danced around just enjoying the cool wetness of it."

Aang walked over and stood next to her. "You must miss her. You're lucky. I never really knew my mother. She died when I was a baby and then I was raised by the monks."

Katara nodded her eyes wet with tears. "I guess I was lucky…at least I knew her for a time. I just wish the stupid Fire Nation never came to my village and destroyed so many people."

Aang put his hand on her cheek and lightly brushed away her tears. He then took her hand and led her outside.

"Aang? What are you doing? We are getting soaked!" Katara protested.

Aang grinned with mischief eyes. "You'll see… I want to show you something."

He led her to the town square nearby next to a restaurant. Music blared from inside mixing with the pounding of the rain.

"May I have this dance?" Aang asked.

Katara looked surprised at first but it eventually changed into a warm smile. She curtsied ladylike and said "I would love too."

She took his hand and they twirled around the empty square. Soon they were both laughing and having a blast.

When the music faded and only the rain sounds remained, they rested.

"Thanks Aang. I needed that." Katara said. She gave him a big hug then kissed him on the cheek.

Together they headed back to the house smiling all the way.

Not far away Toph and Sokka were standing near the window listening (Toph) and watching (Sokka) to the two outside.

"Why is Aang out there in the pouring rain and with my sister? They will get sick and won't be able to save the world. What about Appa? How can we save him if they are sneezing? To make it worse Katara kissed Aang. When they get in, I will give them a piece of my mind!" Sokka complained loudly.

Toph hit him on the shoulder. "Chill Snoozles! Let them have their fun!"

Sokka rubbed his shoulder and scowled. He was about to say something but his stomach started growling. "Fine…I'm hungry anyway." He wondered off toward the kitchen.

Toph shook her head. Sokka could be like that sometimes. She listened to the laughter and talking outside. It made her feel happy and sad at the same time. Such a strange emotion was new to her.

"Have fun Katara. At least you have someone to share your time with." She muttered as she put some towels by the door. She then whispered sadly "Like Sokka would ever care to do that with me." She sighed and went turned toward her bedroom.

As Aang and Katara came inside, they started drying off with some towels they found near the door. Inside the kitchen Aang and Katara could hear shouts. "Come back here Momo! I'm hungry give me back my peach! Hey! Get off me!"

Katara turned to Aang. "I wonder what Sokka's problem is. You can always tell when he is in a bad mood when he is fighting with Momo."

Aang laughed. "That's Sokka for you!" Katara joined him. Together they went in the kitchen to help Sokka get back his peach.
