So soft. I could be so content with brushing my fingertips between her hair for ages. It smells nice too. Even though it's bargain cheap shampoo you can buy at any drug store, it just works so well with her long luxurious milk chocolate hair. It's hair fit for a princess that I get to braid.
"Hey, Kaede." the owner of the hair pipes up and turns to greet me with big scarlet eyes and an innocent smile.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm getting to it." I chime cheerfully as I start separating half her hair into three strands.
"Kaede." Her eyes narrow into her playful death stare.
"Hmm?" I hum.
"KAEDE!" THUMP!
My princess disappears and my eyes sort of meet the eyes of a familiar worrying boy.
"You ok?" he questions as my ears start to tune back into reality thanks to a pigtail girl screaming at a Goatee guy sitting next to me.
"Y-Yeah. I accidentally dozed off. S-Sorry, Shuichi" I stutter.
"It's fine but now's not the time to be dozing off." the Goatee guy, Kaito, chimes in. "We've got a test to prepare for!"
Kaito's right. I was in the dinning hall of our dormitory with K1-B0, Tenko, Himiko, Kaito, and Shuichi to study for our upcoming science test. It won't hurt us if we fail our classes at Hope's Peak, but it still sucks to fail, you know? Thanks to being piano freak, I sort of decent at math and history but I space out in science. It's a good thing I'm friends with Kaito, an astronaut in training. He can recite everything in that textbook without taking-
"If it isn't rude to ask, may I question what you were daydreaming about?"
I leave my train of thought to realize that K1-B0 was asking me this.
"HOW RUDE. You can't ask a girl that question, you sort of degenerate robot!" Tenko comments.
"No, it's fine." I politely refute. "I was just dreaming about braiding Maki's hair. She's got really pretty hair, you know? Kind of sexy too."
"I agree! But, Himiko's is the best. I bet one little braid would make her look even cuter!" Tenko adds.
"Nyeh, are you both playing for the other team?" Himiko chimes.
Everyone is silent for a few seconds until Tenko fumbles on a huge paragraph refuting that claim. On the other hand, I am confused. "Other team"? What does that have to do with hair?
"Hey Shuichi," I whisper. "What's this other team Himiko is talking about?"
Shuichi blushes deeply.
"K-K-K-Kaede, you don't understand what Himiko said?" Shuichi screeches loud enough for everyone to hear it over Tenko's explanation.
Everyone at the table immediately lays their eyes onto me with the desire of a confirmation from me. Is this "other team" that common to say? I reflexively nod to everyone's unspoken question.
"If I remember correctly, the phrase 'playing for the other team' means the said person has romantic attraction towards people of their same gender." K1-B0 explains.
Same sex? Himiko means...
"N-N-N-N-NO! I-I-I-I don't like Ma-Ma-Maki that way! I like her as friend! A friend!"
Yeah, it's not love, is it?
