Chapter 1: Meet Val
This is my story how I came to fall in love with the famous Balto's son, Jayren.
I should start with appearanceā¦
I am a cream and white husky/malamute mix. I have a white blaze going down my forehead to under my bushy cream tail. My legs are all cream and I have icy blue eyes.
Now with my taleā¦
I never knew my parents. For I was just breed to be a sled dog. When I was 8 weeks I was sold to a man. He took me home and gave to his son, Chris.
"Thanks, dad"
The boy's father nodded and asked "What are you going to name her"
"I want something that means strength, dad"
The man nodded and said "how do Valerie sounds, it's French for strength"
Chris nodded and looked at me "Welcome to the family, Valerie"
A year and a half later they got another dog, name Shaffer. He was a year old husky. He was dark dark grey with a streak that extends from his ocean blue eyes. Shaffer has a white underbelly that extends under his dark grey tail.
We now were sitting outside while our humans packed the sled.
"Chris, put the collars on the dogs"
"Yes dad"
Chris soon put a brown sled dog collar around Shaffer's neck. Then he put a black sled dog collar around mine. Then he walked off. An hour later they were done packing. They hooked me and Shaffer to the sled. We soon took off to our new home; Nome.
A couple days after we moved to the town of Nome Alaska we were able to venture out. As I was walking I bumped into someone. I looked up and to see a red and white husky.
She had the white markings as me but she had white legs and darker red ears. Her eyes were a pretty light blue and she had red fur sticking up on her head.
"Hello, you must be new"
I smiled and nodded.
"I'm Saba"
"Valerie"
Saba smiled and said "That's pretty"
"So where were you going?" I asked
"To the beach, it's my baby brother's birthday and we're celebrating"
I nodded and said "Have fun" and walked away
"Hey, if you're not doing anything come by" Saba shouted
I turned and said "You're sure"
She nodded and I walked over to her side and we head for the party. That's how I meet my best friend and later sister in-law.
