She just walked past him, not even bothering to cast a glance at him. He sighed. Why would she even notice his presence? They were barely acquainted, and that itself was from long time ago. And she could have any guy that she wanted within a snap of her fingers, so who in the right mine would choose Shino Aburamae? That creepy guy with all his bugs. Bugs by itself creeped a girl out, bugs and a creepy guy creeps everyone out.
Of course Shino had feelings. Of course he knew that people were uncomfortable around him. Of course he knew that people called him names behind his back. Was he hurt? Hell yeah. Did he show it? Nope.
Maybe that was the problem. He didn't show it. This wasn't the first time he was in love, though, and it all turned out the same way. Hinata, who totally looked past him and kept talking about Naruto, Naruto, Naruto. He didn't, couldn't, show her how he felt, and she slipped right past his fingers into the warm embrace of a certain orange clad ninja. Tenten who was quite close to him and probably the only kunoichi to ever not be irked by his presence, had told him that she liked him, and waited for his response. He was overjoyed, but did not respond. Very hurt by the way it turned out, Tenten made a point of killing all feelings she had for him and shooting him dirty looks whenever he walked past. He was never able to share his feelings, and he never will.
Who was he kidding? He was invisible. She's never going to notice him, remember him or love him. He turned away from her and walked off by himself. He wanted to know that someone loved him, know that he was something special, something of significance to someone. He wanted to be loved. Yes, Shino Aburamae wanted love.
He wished it were that simple. If only there was a rule that you belong to the person that you are in love with, that that person would return the same feelings. that would be a perfect world. But for now, in this world where imperfection lurks in any possible corner, that would never happen. Shino would never find love.
He knew that, and he accepted that fact. He just wished it wouldn't hurt so much.
