I was Willowkit.
I dreamed of becoming Willowcloud, I dreamed of being a warrior.
Mommy, I said, when can I train?
Soon, honey, she said.
Soon.
But not soon enough,
For I am still Willowkit.
I was two moons,
And my brother Streamkit and I went exploring.
Being Riverclan, we thought we could swim.
Boy, were we wrong.
We entered the water
Cold, and sharp.
We drowned that day.
By the time they found us, we were with Starclan.
The water rushed through me,
And all I felt was cold.
Willowcloud! I tried to scream.
I want to be Willowcloud!
But I never was, never will be.
I am Willowkit,
Silver and gray.
And I will never take another breath
Never had
Since that fateful day.
