House calls

If anyone had noticed that Lieutenant Hawkeye had worn her hair down for the past six days in a row, they had yet to comment on it. Or they were afraid of her gun. She strolled in quietly through the wide hospital doors, nodded at the nurses at the front desk and proceeded down the hall to room 308. The other boys from the office were lingering outside the door, jeering, laughing, and prodding Lieutenant Havoc who looked like he couldn't decide whether to break something or cry.

"Dammit! Even crippled he still gets all the girls! It's not FAIR I tell you!"

Riza smirked, wondering who the casualty was this time.

Pushing the guys aside and ignoring their hasty greetings, she peered inside the door to find a grinning Roy Mustang that looked no more injured than he usually did after a run in with Ed. Well, except for the missing eye and broken limb. A young nurse fumbled with her clipboard, blushing profusely at Roy's open smile—the one he reserved specifically for charming the ladies.

"The doctor said you're almost ready to go home sir."

"That is excellent news. I owe it all to your lovely assistance."

Brushing a strand of hair aside to hide the deepening blush she nearly dropped her clipboard, but recovered clumsily just in time.

"I imagine it will be difficult to get around with your injuries. If you have any trouble sir, any at all, please notify the hospital. I'd, eh hem, I mean the hospital would gladly help."

"I do not think that will be necessary."

Both heads turned to Riza simultaneously. The nurse turned an awful shade of red while Roy cursed inwardly for not noticing Riza earlier. So he still hadn't adjusted to his lack of eyesight after all. Riza filed away that bit of information for later use.

"I couldn't ask an angel like yourself to go out of the way for my sake. I have very capable assistants to help me adjust to my new. . . circumstances."

"Yes, of course. Erm, well then, take care sir." She eyed Riza carefully, clearing her throat. "Visiting hours will be over in 15 minutes. Patients need their proper rest."

"Of course ma'am." Havoc agreed all too enthusiastically. "We'll be leaving soon anyways. Right guys?" he elbowed Falman. "So. . . when do you get off work?"

Falman sighed as Havoc followed the nurse down the hall. He turned and bowed to Roy and Riza from the doorway, giving them a knowing smile as he grabbed the door knob. "I guess we'll be going now. You two have fun."

Hearing the door click shut, Riza sat in the chair next to the bed and raised a quizzical brow at the angelic smile Roy gave her.

"Not even home yet and you're already recruiting girls to take you home?"

"Old habits die hard. I keep forgetting how capable my assistant is."

Riza smirked. "I'm your assistant, sir, not your maid. Find someone else to rope into doing your dirty work"

"Does that mean I won't be getting a sponge bath?"

Riza rose from her chair, turned quietly and walked towards the door.

"Wait!"

Hand on the doorknob, she paused. "It's not too late for you to call that nurse back."

"Riza!"

Turning to face him, she flashed a grin at his flabbergasted expression. Crossing over to the room she planted a kiss on his forehead and laughed.

"Just kidding."

"Stop that. I'm still not used to you having a sense of humor."

"Any other commands sir?"

"Yes. Now that you mention it," he smirked, "make sure that door is locked. We still have 15 minutes."
