The fact that Aurora had been taking a well-deserved nap on the other side of the house did not keep her from waking up to the sudden sound of shattering glass. Despite all of the 'sleeping beauty' jokes she'd heard after moving to Storybrooke, she was in fact a very light sleeper. At least when she wasn't cursed, that was. She tried going back to sleep, but just as she turned in bed she heard the sound of metal hitting the floor. She got up calmly, and made her way to the kitchen. It wasn't like she didn't know what to expect.
She leaned against the doorframe, crossing her arms, just waiting to be noticed. Two cups met the floor until her presence was finally acknowledged. She raised an eyebrow at the familiar figure standing by the sink, and staring at her in what she knew to be a fake expression of surprise.
"Rora, love"
She replied by simply raising an eyebrow.
"Dreadful news."
She kept still and silent, but an amused and slightly curious look rested on her face.
"This assignment you gave meβ¦"
"Yes?"
"I'm afraid it's beyond my skills."
He gave her the look. That look. That mix of a pout and puppy eyes, yet slightly flirty and menacing if you looked hard enough. She couldn't help but to chuckle at the familiar sight. Honestly, she had no idea why he still bothered with it. It had never once worked, and it most certainly never would. Well, not on her anyway.
"I thought a pirate's set of skills was supposed to be quite vast."
"That's the case when we're at sea." He replied in what seemed to be an attempt to look very knowledgeable. "But here in this lil'town? Even my obviously eventful existence did not prepare me for this."
Aurora finally abandoned her post by the door, walking towards where he stood so she could face him properly. "Didn't I explain the process for you just yesterday?"
"You did, love. But you missed a key element to the equation." He raised his hook in a not so subtle movement. "Apparently the task requires two very apt hands". His tone underlined the last word. "Clearly you are much fitter for such an important enterprise." He grinned and gestured at her with his non-hooked arm, also bowing just a little.
She stared curiously at him for a second. Her expression would make him think she was seriously considering his situation which was just what she needed. She was buying time so she could come up with a proper plan of action. Pirates were by nature a very cunning group, but Aurora was an expert in besting this particular pirate. As he raised a questioning eyebrow, she had her reply ready.
"Well. I suppose we need to find an activity more appropriate to your vast set of skills." She said suggestively.
He did not miss her tone. Of course not.
"I suppose we do." He smirked, as he does.
It was her time to smirk. "Well I know exactly it is a skilled pirate such as yourself must know how to do very very well."
He raised both eyebrows expectantly. "Wait right here." She replied, and the pirate stood with a mischievous look on his face, moving around the same place - waiting.
She came back in about a minute or two, and he looked at her in full surprise. She smiled.
"Aurora this β "
"I suppose you know what it is"
"Yes but β"
She handed it to him, and started walking towards the door.
"Rora?"
"Yes?"
"What am I supposed to do with this?"
"You wanted something even a pirate could do"
"Yes but I thought β"
"Well then rub the decks, sailor!"
She walked out of the room chuckling lightly, leaving a very confused Hook staring at the mob and bucket she just handed him. He might have been the one called Captain, but there was only one captain in that house.
