When he looks up, it´s snowing.
It's funny he doesn't realize it at first. Somewhere, in the back of his mind, he felt the moisture of the snowflakes, that cold sweetness that comes with nimbostratus clouds. Yet, until this moment, he didn't see the snow drifting around him.
Maybe he started to realize it was snowing when the congressman-Matt- walked away, giving Josh a few minutes to himself. Maybe he started to recognize the tiny floating crystals when he pulled the cell phone out of his pocket, numb fingers entering numbers that had just recently become hazy in his memory.
But as his phone makes the connection to California and a familiar voice hits his ear, Josh sees the flakes stand out in bas relief. And as he opens his mouth to speak, snowflakes land on his tongue, chilly and sweet.
"Hey, Sam…"
