Pairing: Tony/Ziva
Rating: T for mild language
Spoilers: Through the latest episodes, and some Truth or Consequences (season 7)
A/N: This is my first NCIS fanfic. I have just recently gotten into this show, but I am in love with the pairing of Tiva. This is set during the episode where Ray is first introduced to the team.
How did they always end up in the bathroom?
Actually, Tony DiNozzo knew why. It was because she was impatient, and when she wanted answers, she wanted them right then. A guy should be able to escape from a crazy woman by ducking into the bathroom; unfortunately, Ziva David did not agree.
"Ziva. Leave."
"No." He groaned and attempted to enter a stall, but Ziva quickly blocked his way. "Tony, you are bothered by Ray, and I want to know why."
"Why would I be bothered by your little boyfriend? He seems…" Tony wracked his brain for a word that couldn't be considered offensive. "Nice."
Ziva opened her mouth, but Tony cut her off by grabbing her waist and forcefully moving her away from the stall. He ducked inside and slammed the door shut, locking it behind him. "Haha," he said drily. "Can't get me now."
"Ray was just trying to make polite conversation, Tony. You did not have to glare at him and stomp off."
"There was no glaring involved. Or stomping."
"Maybe I am exaggerating, but only slightly. Why can you not be civil?"
With those words, something inside Tony broke, and before he knew what he was doing, he was out of the stall and in Ziva's shocked face. "What has CI-Ray done for you? Taken you skiing and out to dinner? What about me?"
"What about you?" Ziva struggled to keep her voice steady.
"I flew halfway around the world and got myself captured to save your ass!"
Once the words were out, the horrified look on Ziva's face almost made him regret them. Almost. Not quite, though, because he didn't think he could stand another day of watching CI-Ray make Ziva smile while he, her partner who would die for her, watched from across the aisle.
"Do you regret it?" Ziva whispered, avoiding his eyes by training hers on his cheek.
"No," Tony whispered back, because he didn't. She could elope with Ray and have eight kids and he still wouldn't. He stared at her eyes until she finally met his gaze. "Never."
They looked at each other, unsure what to do and waiting for the other to make the next move. Tears began to pool in Ziva's eyes, and Tony fought back tears of his own. Whatever it was they felt for each other, it was complicated, and hard to understand, and both of them were overwhelmed by their emotions and by the person standing in front of them.
Tony had just resolved to kiss her and see what happened when the door to the men's room swung open and Gibbs stepped inside. The two agents snapped their heads around to stare at their boss, and he rolled his eyes. "You two doing this again?" he asked. "Let me know when you're done so I can do my business."
"I was just leaving, Gibbs," Ziva said, stepping away from Tony and heading for the door. She stopped with her fingers on the handle and said, "See you later, Tony," without turning around, and then she slipped out.
Gibbs watched as Tony tried to appear busy by washing his hands, even though he had never actually used the bathroom. The older man started to say something, but then just shook his head and left Tony with his own thoughts.
Short piece… this is just a scene that popped into my head. Please review and tell me what you thought!
