Disclaimer: If I owned FMA, Roy and Riza would be together in three seconds flat.

This is a challenge I accepted from YourFavouitePlushie, who accepted it from Yukixshuu, who accepted it from MoonStarDuchess's challenge to write a story based on 3 words less than 550 words and more than 450 words in 30 minutes. The words that YourFavouitePlushie gave me was, 'Coffee and Tea'

Enjoy!

Coffee and Tea

If it was one thing she despised, it had to be coffee. The aroma was nice, but the taste was too bitter for her. Maybe it was because it reminded her of her life. Her life was full of bitterness, starting from her dad, and all the way to her position in the Ishbal War. She much preferred tea. Who didn't love tea? It was much more soothing and tasted better than coffee.

So, when she find out that Roy Mustang loved coffee, she was surprised. But, she shouldn't have been. They were like total opposites. He was like fire and she was like ice. It was only natural that he liked coffee and she liked tea. But still, how could he, who was undoubtedly the love of her life (though she'd never admit it), much rather preferred coffee over tea?

So, when she finally asked him, Roy Mustang just laughed.

"What's so funny, colonel?" she said, an eyebrow raised. She was'nt happy to be laughed at. It was a serious question!

"I just never thought you'd ask that kind of question, Lieutenant," he said, a smirk still plastered on his face.

She raised her eyebrow. Just what did he mean by that?

"What is that supposed to mean, sir?" she said, slightly annoyed.

"You normally don't ask those kind of questions," he said, looking at her curiously, sipping his coffee.

"It was just out of curiosity, sir. I personally don't prefer coffee," she said, wrinkling her nose at the smell.

"Why, lieutenant?" he asked, leaning forward on the desk.

"Well, the aroma smells nice, but the taste is too bitter. It's terribly misleading. They may as well make the smell bitter too! I just personally hate everything about it," she said, looking at the cup of coffee in his hands with distaste.

"Lieutenant," he said, looking at her. There was a gleam in his eyes, a look that he had when he was scheming something.

"Yes, sir?" she asked, trying to keep the curiosity and anxiety off her voice.

"What if I have something to make you like coffee?" he said, smiling coyly.

"I doubt it, sir," she said, stiffly.

"C'mon lieutenant, give it a try. I promise it'll work," he said, elbows perched on the desk.

"Alright, sir," she said, letting out a sigh. He beckoned a hand for her to come closer. She leaned towards his desk.

And, when she did, she was pulled into a kiss. He tasted like coffee. But, strangely, she slightly liked the taste of it. She closed her eyes and responded eagerly. But, at this moment, Havoc decided to walk in. When his eyes landed on them, he grinned. They broke away and avoided eye contact.

"Lieutenant, I think you want coffee in the mornings from now on, right?" he asked cheekily.

"Yes, Havoc. It's not so bad after all," she said, a hardly noticeable blush gracing her cheeks.
