8:00am

Beep beep beep beep beep crash

I slap my alarm off of my side table.

Vision is blurred as I sit up in bed and stretch. Realization sets in and I remember that today is the day. The day that I've been waiting weeks for.

I dance my way to the bathroom and take my time showering and dressing because Charlie's left for work hours ago. Plus when you ditch school successfully, it's kind of like your reward.

As I make my way through our small house, I stop in the kitchen. On the counter is a brown paper bag with an 'everything' bagel in it and twenty bucks next to it. I pocket the cash and slowly devour my breakfast. At a quarter to nine, the call I've been waiting for causes the shrill of our landline.

"This is Forks High School with a message regarding attendance. Press one if you are the parent or guardian of Isabella Swan."

One

"Press two if you are aware your child has been marked absent from school today,"

Two

"Thank you very much, this message will be followed up with a call from our offices sometime this afternoon. Have a pleasant day. "

It's a wonder anyone even goes to school anymore. Thank you technology.

I grab my boots and start throwing things into my backpack one by one. Keys, cell phone, camera, lighter, wallet…

There's a feeling of absolute freedom mixed with mischief that I can't shake off and I like it.

The drive to the other side of town is short and when I reach the street of my destination I turn down my music for fear of scaring the neighbors.

The Brandon mailbox stands tall and proud on it's curb.

My best friend, Alice, is five-one, one hundred and three pounds, has great hair, boobs, and has never done anything remotely exciting in her entire life. I have tried everything under the sun: smoking in the girls bathroom, buying porn from Old Man Wickham over at the gas station, I even tried to kiss her on Homecoming night but she just went to church the next morning and prayed about it.

But it's not her fault, I guess. She gets most of it from her parents. Peter and Ann: King and Queen of the universe with their manicured lawns and synchronized schedules. They've been side-eyeing me since I was eight and accidentally lit their bathroom on fire. I mean, come on, I was eight. Since then, it's been one plot after the other with them trying to separate us, but the harder they tried - the closer we got. Not for long though.

Arizona. They're moving her to Arizona. It's not Maine, but it's not exactly down the street either.

You could suggest that they finally got their wish, but if they thought I was going to make this easy on them, they've been underestimating me all these years.

Because today is our day off, whether Alice likes it or not. Today is the day everything changes.

Just a short story until I feel comfortable doing something longer. No beta, just me. Couple of chapters long. I'm heymickeygirl on twitter and tumblr, come say Hi.
