Authoress note: This takes place before "House Haunts" because Spencer still has the pendant in this story. This will also be uploaded on Tumblr.
…...
Spencer kept looking anxiously at the clock, unable to focus on his work. Billy was slightly worried by this.
"What's the matter, Bromethus?" He asked. His tone was soft and a bit concerned.
"Huh?" Spencer was a bit startled, he'd been distracted and had forgotten about Billy for a second. "Oh...n-nothing."
Billy frowned. "You sure, Spencer?"
Billy didn't really called Spencer by his full name a lot. Usually he just called him Spence, bro and dude. He usually only called him Spencer when he was mad, surprised or scared.
"Well.." Spencer looked nervous. "You know how there's going to be a fire drill today?"
"Yeah?" Billy asked, puzzled. He thought for a moment. "Oh...OH! Are you scared of fire drills?"
Spencer shifted uncomfortably. Billy gently put his hand on his shoulder.
"Spencer, it's okay." He said gently.
"You're not gonna … laugh at me?" Spencer asked. Billy frowned again.
"Why would I laugh?"
"Because being scared of fire drills is...stupid." Spencer explained.
"Why are you scared of them, broton? I mean you laugh at horror movies!"
"Well...there was a fire at my old school. And the sound..the panic and-and everything was so overwhelming." Spencer said nervously.
"Dude it's okay." Billy comforted him. "Besides I'll be with you to keep you calm."
Spencer smiled. "Thanks, Billy."
Just then the fire alarm went off.
In the hustle somebody bumped into Spencer and his necklace fell off. He couldn't see Billy.
"Oh no!" He hyperventilated. His eyes were watering slightly. He followed the crowd anxiously as they rushed towards the exit.
Suddenly Spencer felt a tight grip on his wrist. It wasn't too tight a grip, it was kind of gentle and comforting. He looked over to see who it was. However to his surprise no one was holding his wrist. Was he just imaging it? No, it felt real...someone was holding his wrist.
Billy...
Spencer smiled lightly. He followed the other students, calmly outside.
While they all waited outside for the alarm to go off, Spencer felt Billy give his wrist a reassuring squeeze.
A few minutes later the bell rang and the students went back inside.
Spencer looked around for the necklace. He was thrilled when he found it and put it on. When he could see Billy again he noticed he was still holding his wrist.
"Thanks." Spencer said.
"No problem bromigo, I said I'd stay with you and I did." Billy said.
Spencer was really happy. Billy was a good friend. Even though Spencer couldn't see him, he stuck around and found a way to help keep him calm.
He hugged Billy. "You're the best Cobra."
"I know I am."
