Seeing in Silver
Gold really didn't understand what everybody saw in Silver. Professor Oak had given him, Gold, a hard time before giving him a Pokedex, but he hadn't seemed too concerned about Silver stealing his. And that Totodile had no intention of leaving a thief to go back to Professor Elm.
And then there was old Kurt, who thought Silver was worthy of those special Pokeballs he made and Gold was not. What did Silver have that he didn't? He didn't understand it.
Of course, Kurt didn't know about the incident in the lab, but surely Totodile realised he'd been stolen. But the Totodile was happy to stay with Silver, even with his Cyndaquil pleaded for him to return. And so were Silver's other Pokemon. Hell, they got along better with Silver than Gold's bratty little Togepi did with him.
He really didn't see what everybody saw in Silver.
