"Orochimaru-sama...is dead..."

Those words shook Kabuto to the very core. His entire body felt numb as Sasuke just turned around and left, the remains of the once-great snake ninja curled up on the floor. In all his years, Kabuto had never once thought that Orochimaru would die. He swore to protect that man with his life, and he failed. He utterly, completely failed.

Hot tears began to form in Kabuto's eyes as he stared at his poor master's corpse. 'Oro...Oro...Orochimaru-sama...' Slowly, Kabuto fell to his knees and broke out crying. His bare fingers dug deep into the blood and soil as he screamed and begged for his master to awaken. Orochimaru was everything to him. He was the one who freed Kabuto from the Akatsuki's control. Kabuto owed this man with every fiber of his being.

Eventually, night fell and Kabuto realized he could not cry anymore. Every tear had been flushed out. His hands and clothes were stained with dry blood and dirt. Kabuto picked himself off the ground and silently walked down the hall, following the crimson trail towards his beloved master's room. As Kabuto slowly stepped towards Orochimaru's more human-like corpse, he pulled out a small scalpel from his pocket.

Removing his glasses, Kabuto brought the scalpel up towards Orochimaru's face and sliced out the left eye, causing blood to gush out like a fountain and stain the entire bedding. A maniacal sneer formed on Kabuto's lips as he held Orochimaru's glistening golden eye between his fingers. The silver-haired ninja slipped the scalpel back into his pocket and walked to his lab, twisted thoughts and ideas flowing through his mind. He took one last look at the eye and wondered, 'I hope this will fit..."
