Okay, this is WAY out there. Just so you know. But it is a oneshot, so if you hate it, you don't have to read any more of it, because once again, it is just a oneshot.

He had supported her through many trials. He had backed up her information when she needed it most. He had defended her when she needed defending, and supported her when she needed supporting. When Cam had been plopped in above her head, he was the one to make her question it, to tell her that she was the best in her field, and that she deserved the job, not some wanker from New York.
He had been blunt with her about her mother when she needed it, and didn't sugar-coat the information like the others did. He joked with her, and surprised her with his jokes. He was her friend.
But now it seemed that maybe that friendship had turned into something else- for him. Every time she would step into a room, he could hardly contain the grin that threatened to spread upon his face. But every time he saw her, he suppressed the smile, and continued on with work as normal.
But every time that he walked through those doors, his heart sank to the floor. Because he put that smile on her face, and he was the one that took her out at night; his was the shoulder that she cried upon when she was upset, and his was the voice was comforted her. He was the man that she went home to at night, and his was the name that she cried out in the middle of the night.
So he stopped the smiles before they broke out, and just kept being her friend. Because she was Dr. Temperance Brennan, and he…well, he the bug guy. Resident slime man. Plain and simple Jack Hodgins.
