Dear Diary;

You wouldn't believe what happened today—or tonight! It was the most magical day of my life. I can't stop smiling about it. I had my first kiss! And what's better? I got to experience it with the girl of my dreams… Diary, all I can do is dream about it over and over again…

"Nick!" I turned around to find my best friend running towards me with the biggest smile on her face, and her hair billowing around her face. Wow, she was beyond beautiful. And I already felt so in love, even though I was still thirteen. But we were just friends… of course, nothing more.

A smile instantaneously lit up my face. She single-handedly could turn my frowns upside down, no matter how big they were. "I've been looking all over for you, where have you been?!" she exclaimed. I shrugged sheepishly.

She took my hand naturally as she excitedly told me, "Come on, I wanna show you something!" Before I could say another word, she started pulling me, weaving through friends and family that were gathered here at the Stewart household to celebrate New Year.

We ran to their backyard. "Come on, hurry!" she urged. I followed as she led me to the biggest tree in the backyard. This tree has been here from ever since I could remember. "Look, Sophie had puppies!" she exclaimed happily.

I looked down at the white blanket spread below the tree. Sure enough, there they were, three cute little puppies. Sophie, Miley's dog, lay next to them, ready to protect them from anything they might face. I smiled softly. "Sophie's a mommy, isn't that awesome?!" she said and I laughed, nodding.

I watched as she knelt down and started to pet them. (A/N: Idk if that's possible if they're newborn puppies, but hey, it's my story! :D) She looked up at me, her eyes shining, "Come on, pet them." I was uncertain, "Are you sure that's Ok?" I asked her. She nodded. I smiled and knelt down next to her, softly stroking one of the puppies.

I looked at Miley and smiled. She smiled back and I couldn't help as my heart skipped a beat. Suddenly, the noise in the party area increased as the countdown began.

10, 9, 8…

I looked down at my watch: 11:59. I looked back up at Miley who was shyly looking down at her feet.

7, 6, 5…

I took her hand slowly, running my thumb across the back of it, surprising myself with my newfound bravery. She looked at me taken aback… I simply smiled.

4, 3, 2…

I pushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

1… HAPPY NEW YEAR!

And as cheers erupted from the front yard, I moved closer, my eyes closing softly in the process. My lips brushed against hers, making goose bumps appear on my hand. Then it ended.

It was short, but yet sweet and meaningful. My first kiss, I suddenly realized. I had my first kiss! I could do one of those flips Joe taught me right now. But I had to act civilized, I reminded myself. She was smiling at me, making me automatically smile back.

"Happy new year, Nicky." She whispered, with those lips of an angel.

-Sigh- BEST night of my life, diary. It's going to be a happy new year, indeed. I can just feel it. After that great start, what could possibly go wrong? :D

12:47 p.m. Jan 1.
