Honestly, I Don't Know You!
"YOU!" She shrieked venomously her eyes burning bright as she glowered at me. She strode forward and attempted a swing at me with a rather large, slimy, scaly, stinker of a fish.
I hadn't expected that.
Now, take it from someone who has experience in such matters, a woman who bursts into a tavern distraught or insanely mad at some less than gentlemanly gentlemen isn't that much of a warning for anyone in Tortuga unless you happen to know the woman. I honestly had not. Which is exactly what I tried to tell her!
"Apologies, but I-" Swoosh! Nearly clobbered me the repulsively foul thing, I was beginning to thing it was rotting-ducked 'fore I even saw her raise it 'cause of the lovely aroma that wafted off of it.
"APOLOGIES? I don't want nothing-don't wanna hear-" She brought the fish swishing over her head with two hands onto the chair I had just scuttled out of, she swiped, I hopped on a table interrupting a card game much to the displeasure of the gentlemen seated at it. She ended it for them by smearing the fish-that was intended for my feet-along the table, coins flying, voices shouting, she screamed at them and they were quiet as sand.
She looked up, saw me swinging by the chandelier, and tossed her fish at it. The unpleasant odor must have melted the chain, suddenly I was crashing onto the floor, the fish on my head reeking and she was stomping towards me so I pick off the fish, fling it back at her, the bartender's had enough:
" Stinkin' up the place-you scarin' ev'ryone!"
"Me? What's she doing then?"
"I DON'T CARE! OUT!" He took a rifle out and shot off a few, that was certainly enough incentive to get me gone. Soon as I cleared the door, I get walloped by a putrid, rotting, foul thing with fins, not the most enjoyable of my experiences. Finally:
" I DON'T BLOODY KNOW YOU!"
"Don't tell me-" She stops and gets a good look at me. "Who are you?"
"That is wonderful! I'm clobbered with a rotting fish for no reason at all and the lass asks who I am! Who are you to be attacking people?"
"Sorry…Is there anything I could do? I'll buy you a drink!" she decides finally. I consider that offer for a moment.
"Two?"
"Alright then, two."
"Do you have a name?"
"Ana Maria."
