Action: Beginning the vocal entry

It isn't known or even proper for a normal droid to hold such secrets I carry. But I am not a normal droid.

I'm not a protocol droid even though it's officially – which means: to any Imperial who asks – my primary function.
I am not a librarian droid even though I hold a lot information.
I am not an assassin droid or a battle droid even though I am more than capable of combat and killing - at least better than the battle droids of the Separatists during the Clone Wars.

At least I know that it's well enough to just say 'roger' instead of that idiotic 'roger roger'.

I am not an astromech droid or a pilot droid even though I can work as both.
I am not a medical droid even though I work as one, sometimes.
I am not a slicer droid even though I love causing trouble in Imperial systems via slicing.
I am not an espionage droid, even though I do function like one all the time.
I am not a maintenance droid even though I am capable of doing its jobs.
I am not an interrogation droid nor mining droid.
I am neither a nanny droid nor an administrative droid.
For those last four I am not needed.
And I hate those interrogation and torture droids.

I am none of these. Am I then one of the droid types I did not just mention?

No, I am not. Maybe the closest is an android, but I am not truly that either.

I am me. Officially protocol droid A-3PO. But in truth...
"Ascii! When you are done with your journal entry, it would be nice if you could lend me a hand!"

In truth, I am Ascii. Made from materials and parts my builder was able to get, I am more than a mere android.

I am my builder's partner. I am not flesh and blood like her, but my metal hide is the only thing that separates us. I was made to be trustworthy partner to her. I was given sentience. I was given abilities and freedoms, duties and responsibilities.

I am content with this, with what I already have. I don't see why I should want something more. We trouble the Empire from mere assistants to the Emperor himself with our existence alone, let alone by our actions against them.

I am an android. A partner – no, the partner – of my builder.

I am a sentient being.

"Ascii? May I ask why you want to keep a journal?"
"I want to record something of our lives. Don't worry, I won't say anything the Empire could truly use against us or to track us or our allies down, given the extremely minimal possibility that they could actually get these entries. May I ask why you are covered in mud?"
"Please don't."
*laughter* "I already did."
*snort* "Well I am not answering. Can I say something to the recording?"
"Oh well... It's recording our conversation."
"Haar'chak!"
