Prologue:
Streaks of diamond sunlight folded under the weight of the cotton ball clouds dripping with dark paint. The waves crashed into each other, fighting a perpetual battle against themselves; as the wind cackled and raced along the beach, catapulting the sand into the gentle embrace of the stars. The Doctor stood on the crumbling pillars of sand surveying the scene, but disconnected to what was happening. Just as he had been throughout these past months.
Being here now was especially painful. He glanced away for only a moment, but when the Doctor looked up, the beach had a new accessory. A single flower, resting on a pillow of sand. A rose.
