Chapter One-Prolouge
{Three Years Previous} Kagome POV
Kagome wailed desperately, ignoring the blood slowly dripping down the side of her face and the pounding that jammed into her head. She blocked out the screaming muscles in her fists as she pounded on the well, willing it to work, willing it to let her go back, to let her see Inuyasha. Because now Kagome realized. Now, of all times, she had to realize that she belonged with him, and he belonged in the Feudal Era. Her family had stopped trying to pull her up from the bottom of the well, leaving her to her pain.
She knew that it was wrong to want such a thing, but Kagome really wanted her mother or brother to come back and hug her and tell her that it was all going to be ok, and then she could rant about how they couldn't say that, they wouldn't know. She felt useless and empty, and she wanted to rant to someone. Kagome wanted to rant about how she wanted to see Sango and Miroku's ceremony, about how she wanted to see Shippo grow into a powerful demon, she wanted to see Kaede again, and most of all she wanted to see- no. She wanted to feel Inuyasha, to make sure he was there. She wanted to hold him in her arms, she wanted him to hold her in his arms.
God, this was bad. A few hours later, Kagome had every tear she could. Slowly, the pain sunk, and the feeling that replaced was new. Self-loathing and hate flooded her every cell, almost as if it were trying to brainwash her. Kagome looked up and spotted a really jagged edge right above her head. She pulled it out of the wall. I deserve this. I let him go, he left because of me, it's all my fault. She gave a maniacal grin and sliced it across her wrist, licking the flowing blood off of her wound. This felt good. Again and again, the brick drew blood, and again and again, Kagome craved more. After her need of pain was fulfilled, she climbed out of the Bone Eater's Well and threw on a pair of long sleeved pajamas. She curled into a ball on her bed, horror beginning to take hold as she realized what she had done. She sobbed as quietly as she could, muffling her cries with her pillow. After that night, Kagome wore only long sleeves and drew away from her friends, as though she were a turtle drawing into it's shell. There was nothing left for her.
