Summary: Roy and Maes fishing. Inspired by a pic found at http/windscape. I believe its number 28. "Evergreen knows".

Roy sat at the bank of a pond out side of Central. Staring out at the pond he watched his fishing line bounce gently with the wind. The world around him was filled with quit serenity, trees surrounded him, the wind caressed him, and the voices of birds filled his ears. Years ago non of this would have been important to him, but years ago he had never fought in a war. Years ago the man beside him had not been around to teach him to enjoy the beauty that was the life around him.

Maes lay on his back, eyes closed and smiling. His friend needed this more than anything. Peace and a reminder that not every thing had been destroyed. Roy had been appalled to kill a worm by impaling it on a hook, and Maes wondered how his friend survived the war. Sometimes sacrifice was needed, but he doubted Roy could understand that. At lest not yet. Meas would teach him though, just as he would teach his quiet and sad friend to embrace the little things that made him happy.

One of those little things that made Roy happy was his friend right by his side. The loyal companionship made Roy's heart swell in ways it never had, and simply made him happy. There was no passion. A concept very foreign to Roy. It was too calm, and too powerful at the same time. In the quiet peace that was this moment in time, he identified the feeling.

"Meas, I love you."

"I know."

It was a simple answer, neither condemning nor accepting. It was a statement of fact.

"I'm sorry. I know you have Gracia, and..."

"She knows too."

Roy blinked, and Meas sat up. Leaning back on his hands he smiled with understanding beyond the mystics, as if he knew the secrets of the universe.

"Roy, there is nothing wrong with loving any one."

Meas leaned over and kissed Roy.
