Shewolf

"Hey Jacob." I smiled as I sat down next to my best friend.

"Oh, hello Leah." Jacob smiled back.

"Why are you down here by yourself?" I asked, happy he was alone of course.

"Oh, just drowning myself in my sorrows." He chuckled.

"Bella again?" I rolled her eyes in jealousy.

"You are so smart." He rolled his eyes.

"Yeah but why the beach?' I asked in confusion.

"This is where we met." He replied simply.

"Honestly what do you see in her?" I hissed angrily.

"Everything. She's amazing..." He replied with a love struck look on his face.

"She's older than you!" I said in an anxious voice.

"That hasn't stopped eighty year old men with twenty year old women." He said protectively.

"Have you tried meeting other girls?" I asked in hope that one day, I'd be the one.

"Yeah, they're just... not my type." He shrugged.

"She's in love with Edward." I said in a solemn voice.

"I can eliminate him." He said with his hands balled up in fists.

"He's a vampire. Your worst enemy." I reminded. Jacob simply balled his hands up into his fists and growled.

"They're married." I added in the same tone.

"So? Marriage doesn't always last." He said defensively.

"They have a daughter!" I shrieked.

"Why do you care!" He yelled back at me.

"Because.... I.... never mind!" I grunted and headed towards the forest.

"Tell me!" He called back.

"You wouldn't care." I hissed.

"Please Leah." He begged. I ignored him and kept walking until his hand grabbed my arm and stopped me in my tracks. He saw the tears in my eyes and all of a sudden and had a look of concern on his face.

"Why are you so worked up about this?" He frowned.

"I can't tell you." I whispered.

"Why not?" He asked staring into my eyes. I didn't answer. Not because I didn't want to, but because I didn't want to ruin our friendship. And then it finally dawned on him.

"Wait.... It's.. me isn't it?" He said in a cold, distant voice.

"Yes." I sighed. I wanted to go into total darkness and curl up. I felt so distant and hated. I could picture Jacob yelling at me and telling me he hated me but that isn't what happened. Instead, his warm lips met mine in a passionate kiss. And it was wonderful.

"You were worth waiting for." He whispered in my ear.

Too bad Bella was missing out on all this.
