A nidorino and nidorina pair finished scratching the unknown-runes into the dirt. The nidorino stood and watched, while the nidorina ran off to make sure the humans still hadn't shown up.
She got back just as the runes started to glow.
They stepped back as the runes disappeared with a flash of light, leaving a small, mottled object behind, and they both squealed in excitement at their new egg.
