Chapter 1:
*No One's POV*
Almost year has past since the Grinch and the Lady in Black has stole Christmas. Things have changed. Mercy Grace helped Kyle Ray Whoheart become the new Mayor from last month's election. His uncle did not like going against him for being Mayor, but he thinks that will be continuing being Mayor, now that that Mayor Whoheart is now mayor, he and his assistant were expelled in Whoville.
Speaking of Kyle Ray, he climbs up the snow mountain for his daily exercise while wearing black jeans with a black collared shirt underneath a long sleeved red sweater. Also with a black jacket to keep him warm. He's taking Mercy Grace, his beautiful fiance, out for a date today for some much needed time till their wedding on Christmas Eve. Now that Martha moved in with the Grinch, Max, and Mercy Grace at Mount Crumpit, she allowed him to move in to her old home as his own home.
Soon, he arrives to the front door and knocks on it.
"Coming!" Mercy Grace calls out from the other side of the door.
She opens the door, revealing her now seventeen year old wearing a long sleeved green shirt with a sweetheart neckline with a black skirt that went down to her feet where her boots are on her feet. Her normal braided loops and makeup are the same on her while her winter jewelry from last year's Christmas are in their perfect areas.
"Hello Kyle Ray," she smiles to the eighteen year old Mayor.
"Hello Mercy Grace," he smiles back. "Ready to go?"
"I just need my jacket and purse. Would you like to come in for a few minutes?" she offers him.
"Sure," Kyle Ray smiles more, accepting the offer while giving her a kiss on the lips.
He enters into the warm cave that has transformed a little. It's still the Grinch's lair, but with some Martha May touches.
Max barks happily at Kyle Ray as he runs over to him.
"Hey Max," he smiles back, petting him while kneeling down to his level.
"Mommy, Daddy!" Mercy Grace calls down with a smile. "Kyle Ray is here!"
"Oh goody!" Martha May smiles, coming from the kitchen. "Welcome back Kyle Ray."
"Thank you, it's good to be back Mrs. Grinch," he smiles, following his love down to the lower level.
"You know that you can call me mother now that you are going to our son in law!" she's really excited for the wedding in a few days.
"It's only in a few days Martha!" the Grinch calls back from fixing something in the cave. "Don't get emotional about it."
"Grinch," she chuckles. "Our daughter is getting married!"
"I know that!"
Martha rolls her eyes and chuckling more. "He's a little frustrated about the money situation."
Mercy Grace puts on her black jacket on with her purse.
"But it's only about us and the Lou Who family," Kyle Ray mentions.
"Yea, but since the Whobilation is before the wedding it's a little crazy," Martha explains.
"True, but hopefully this time it will be as crazy as last year's Whobilation," Mercy Grace says, remembering when her father was the holiday cheermeister in fear.
"Well, I'm making sure it's not going to be crazy," Kyle Ray smiles to her.
"That's great to hear," Martha smiles to him when the Grinch finally makes his appearance from behind.
"Even though you're getting married in a few days you are still living in my cave," he says to Mercy Grace before turning to Kyle Ray. "What do you have plans for today?" he glares at him playfully.
"We are going out for dinner before hanging out in the forest," Kyle Ray answers firmly like always with his future father in law's questions.
"What time are you bringing her back?"
"Ten thirty as usual."
"Good."
"Alright, we're going now, love you Mommy and Daddy," Mercy Grace smiles, giving her parents hugs and kisses.
"Love you too sweetie," Martha hugs and kisses her back.
"Love you too kid," Grinch hugs and kisses her back as well.
They watch her leave the cave with Kyle Ray, looking very happy and in love.
Dinner was very delicious for them as they leave for the forest like they always do after every date. He picks her up from the ground laughing at their fun time together.
"We are finally together," he sings with a huge smile. "We'll be a couple forever." He spins her around still holding her bridal style. "I'm glad our dreams had come to be. Listen to our song that's so lyrical." Kyle Ray sets the smiling Mercy Gace down into a hug from behind. "It's a Christmas miracle for you and me. Now our wedding can begin." She spins around to face while holding his hand. "We'll never be apart again." She shooks her head for a no. "We are simply meant to be." His hands hold her pale cold cheeks, pressing his forehead against hers. "Listen to our song that's so lyrical. It's a Christmas miracle for you and me."
"Now we can dance together," Mercy Grace sings along, dancing with in a ballroom dance. "We'll be a couple forever," he spins her around. "I'm glad our dreams had come to be. Listen to our song that's so lyrical." Kyle Ray lifts her up under her armpits to spin her again once. "It's a Christmas miracle for you and me!" she sings with her arms up and smiles big and happy. "Now we can finally celebrate Christmas Day. I will never go away," she sings softly, looking at him in the eyes as she has her arms around his neck when he slowly takes her down. "We'll be happy as can be." She presses her forehead again on his. "Hear our song that's so lyrical. It's a Christmas miracle for you and me," she smiles to him.
"It's a Christmas miracle you and me," they smile each other as Mercy Grace places her head on his chest.
Kyle Ray gently lifts her head up so they can kiss into the Winter Wonderland darkness.
Unknown from them, the Grinch is looking through his telescope to see them in the forest down below. He sighs, pulling it up before sitting on the shared bed with his wife Martha.
"I can't believe it, Martha," he says with his head bowed. "Somehow, for a long time when my back was turned, she grew up."
"Indeed she has both in appearance and personality," she wraps her arms around him by the shoulders. "But what can we do? Mercy Grace has been our daughter for seventeen years and many more, now she's in love and getting married."
"If only she could stay and never say goodbye," the Grinch sings, taking an old picture of him and her on her thirteenth birthday. "If only I can make time stop. Believe me, I could try," he sings to his wife. "But, I had to learn that my daughter has to grow. And if I truly love her, I must let her go. And oh, I love her so if only she could know."
"She knows how much you love her, Grinch," Martha assures him. "Come on, my love. They will be here soon."
He nods.
