"You're leaving?" my best friend of six years, Hayley McDonald, exclaims in disbelief

"Well, yeah" I reply calmly "I'm not staying in that shithole for the rest of my life"

Hayley takes a few more steps ahead of me to open her front door so we could go into her house. I have just told her that I am going to university. She's not very happy because to go to said university, I have to move 300 miles away.

"Still! You can't just abandon me there." Hayley says in a calm manner but still a little pissed.

"Hey, you're already at uni, working at the hotel is just part-time for you." I try to reason. It worked.

"I suppose, still you could have chosen somewhere closer" She huffs

I grin at her "Where's the fun in that? Besides I need to get away from here, man. Too many memories"

Hayley smiles at me sadly. The thing about Hayley is that she never stays mad she will always look on the brighter side to life.

at 8 o'clock I stand from the couch and stretch "I should go, we've got the 8 am start with Becky and Lavender"

"Alright, I'll walk you to the bridge" Hayley says while getting up too.

As I approach my front door, I hear a crash from inside the house. I sigh as I open the door to see the house looking like a bomb site. There is yelling coming from upstairs in the attic.

I get to the attic door just in time to hear "You blew it up!"

"It was your fault you put in too much wolfsbane!"

"Did not!"

"Did too!" I open the door to see my two older sisters arguing.

"What happened?" I ask

"Kayleigh blew up the vanquishing potion!" My eldest sister Lesley exclaims in frustration.

"It was your fault you didn't tell me to stop!" Kayleigh retaliates.

Lesley opens her mouth to argue but I put my hand up "Whatever, I don't care... You better clean up this mess before mum comes home" I say gesturing to the walls "and downstairs too".

"Yeah, yeah it's nothing a simple cleaning spell won't fix" Kayleigh says flicking through the book of shadows. "And downstairs was the demons fault not ours".

"That's personal gain but whatever you can face the consequences I'm going to bed" I say walking to the door.

"Okay night Fritters" Lesley called after me.

I'm a Witch and so is my family, except my dad and his side. I have the power of Telekinesis and Molecular Combustion, basically I can move things with my mind and blow shit up, it's kinda cool. The only other mortals that know about us is my eldest sister's husband and my best friends Hayley, Becky and Lavender but they only found out because they walked into the house while we where vanquishing a demon. In my bedroom I change into my jammies and face plant my bed. I'm asleep in minutes.

Elaine's P.O.V
"She's too young Louis she can't do something like that" I tell my only son and eldest child.

"She'll be fine mum, she's a big girl now. I know she can do this, plus you know she hates not being involved in stuff and she knows more about this thing than any of us".

I hesitate, this is my baby we're taking about... but he's right. I sigh in defeat "Alright, it's got to be her" I say sitting back down at my desk.

"I know, I'll go tell them now ,mum" Louis says and with that he teleports out.

I put my head in my hands just as my husband comes through the door "I don't like this Elaine, Jenni's only 20!"

"I don't like it either Ian but Louis's right! She's the only one who has an active power useful in a fight and she knows the damn story like the back of her hand" I reply in frustration.

Ian frowns at me "Aye, but it's not a story is it? It's real! She could get hurt or die!"

Tears sting my eyes "She won't! She's strong! Not another word on it Ian!"

My husband shakes his head and leaves the room. I lean back in my chair. God, please let him be wrong for once.

Jenni's P.O.V

I wake up the next morning to the alarm on my phone. I groan as I hit the snooze button with intent to go back to sleep. However, in my house, that isn't an option.

"Auntie Jenni, Wake up!" Screeches by 5-year-old niece Emily as she bursts through my bedroom door. "Gran says you have to get up for work!" she continued to screech but with an added bonus of jumping on my bed. I turn over to see blue eyes staring at me under a mass of blonde curls with a big smile on her face.

"Alright all ready I'm up go tell your Gran I can wake up on my own" I say moodily and groggy as I literally roll out of bed.

"Okay" Emily sings as she skips out of the door.

"Lesley needs her own house" I mutter as I get out my bed.

Don't get me wrong living with my whole family under one roof is great! But, being Witches, I know their only here to protect me. I am the youngest after all and the weakest. I've never had experience of fighting by myself, I wish that just once I could do something by myself but ever since the incident they barely let me do anything. I sigh heavily while dressed for work. My uniform is basically black trousers, a white blouse, a black blazer with my gold name tag on the left side of my chest, a navy blue tie and a pair of small heeled court shoes. I head into the kitchen where my mum, dad, Andy, Emily, Louis and Lesley are sitting.

"Mornin' guys" I murmur as I half heartedly wave.

"Morning Auntie Jenni" says Andy looking up from his porridge

"Mornin' Jen" choruses the rest of my family…except one.

"Where's Kaylz" I wonder out loud looking around.

"Bed" Louis says simply with a shrug.

"Go get her Jenni" mum demands.

"Andy, go get Kayleigh" I say taking the milk out the fridge

"I asked you to do it!" Mum scolds

"Fine" I put down the milk and storm out the kitchen, through the dining room and into the foyer to the bottom of the stairs and yell "Oi, Kayleigh! Get up! Your going to be late for University!"

"Jenni!, I could have done that go up and get her" Dad yells from the kitchen

I walk back through and pour the milk into my coffee cup "She's 26 years old, she should be getting herself up!"

I take a drink of my coffee and look at the wall clock "I gotta go" I say and grab my bag before heading to the door.

"Jenni" Mum says quietly before I even get to the door.

"Yeah" I ask timidly. I don't like it when anyone in this family gets quiet.

"I want to talk to you when you come home okay?" my mum says with a kind smile but looking a little worried.

"yeah sure, bye" I reply confused while walking out the door.

I meet Hayley, Becky and Lavender at the bus stop. "Sleep in again Jenni" asks Becky with a smirk on her face.

"No family stuff" I reply with a shrug.

Hayley and Becky both nod in understanding.

"What family stuff" asks Lavender looking genuinely confused.

Becky hits her in the back of her head and says "take a guess"

"3, 2, 1…" Hayley whispers to me and on the one you get the… "OH" Lavender gets it.

"There we go!" exclaims Hayley as the bus pulls up. Family stuff generally means demon trouble and yes it was a little white lie but every time I'm late I never hear the end of it! Punctuality isn't my strong point.

"There was a huge mess when I went in last night again" I tell Hayley as we settle behind the reception desk.

"What happened?" She asks worried.

I shrug "God knows, I wasn't there, again."

"Why don't you just tell them you want to be more involved?"

"I would but it's the same reply all the time. We're protecting you, remember what happened last time" I exclaim frustrated.

"They need to get over that man, it happened over a year ago" Hayley says with a shake of her head

"I hate that place!" Lavender exclaims as we walk home.

I nod in agreement "Tell me about it. If I hear that egotistical, perverted little toad say 'Smile, Miss Finlay! Customers love it when you smile' one more time I'm gonna blow him up!"

"I still don't get why you even work. You're rich!" Becky exclaims as we approach my family estate.

"No, my parents are rich. I have 30 quid in my bank and about three in my pocket" I tell her with a grin

She scoffs "Whatever you say, Princess"

I open the gate to my family estate and wave goodbye to my friends before walking up to the house.

"Mum?" I call as I walk through the door "You in?"

"I'm here sweetie" My mum answers coming out of the living room with a backpack in her hand.

"What's that for" I ask pointing to the bag.

"It's for your trip" Mum replies and shoves it into my arms.

"What trip?" With that I hear a bang. I jump and turn round to see Louis throw something at the ground next to my feet.

"Sorry Jen, no time to explain"
