STRANGE HAPPENINGS 2

By: BER13

CHAPTER ONE

As Melissa Crochet headed out of Shadyside High and approached the warm sunlight, she couldn't help but sniff the air and thank God that she was alive and well. Almost a year had passed since the accident, an accident that had caused so many deaths—her best friend Brittany, killed by her sister May, who had also died; and her three sisters, Rachel, Erica, and Josie-all killed by May, also.

Tears filled Melissa's eyes. So many tears, so much blood…

"Ready to go?" Her sister Callie's voice interrupted her disturbing thoughts.

"Ready." Melissa answered, and the girls began to walk home. Not one girl spoke. Finally, Melissa broke the silence by asking, "Do you ever think about the accident?"

"Accident?" Callie snorted. "That was no accident, Melissa!"

Melissa stared at Callie, who was lucky to be alive. Melissa wondered how Callie could act like nothing had happened even though she had been so close to being killed.

Stop thinking about it, Melissa scolded herself. She forced a teeny smile as the two girls entered the empty house. No car was parked in the driveway; no forgotten briefcase was lying on the couch. This had been the usual picture photographed for the Crochet girls since last October, when Mr. and Mrs. Crochet had been killed by none other than May.

"There's no food!" Callie's complaint rang in Melissa's ears. It angered her. Callie was always complaining.

"Take what you can get!" Melissa yelled to her twin.

"Look who's talking!"

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Never mind!" Melissa heard a crash. She peeked in the kitchen and saw Callie knocking silverware over. Melissa flinched. "What the hell do you think you're doing?"

Callie ignored her and walked out of the room. As she did, she knocked over the cookie jar. It crashed into jagged pieces.

Melissa stared after her. Callie had never thrown a fit before.

"AAAUUUGGGHH!"

Melissa flinched but didn't make a move. Crashes and thumps came from Callie's room, and Melissa knew that her sister was destroying her own room.

What was going on with Callie? Was she demented?

"AAAAUUUGGGHHH! EEEEAAAAAGGGHH!"

"SHUT UP!" Melissa yelled. The screaming continued, and Melissa stared up the staircase.

Callie hadn't even gone this wild when she was acting like she had brain damage.

Melissa shook her head sadly and let Callie go on with her rampage.

At about eight o' clock that night, Melissa was reading when Callie burst into her room, her eyes flashing angrily. Melissa glanced up. "Oh. Hi, sis. Finished with your fit?"

"Ha, ha. Very funny." Callie said angrily, stomping over to her sister.

"What was wrong with you?" Melissa asked. "Are you pretending not to have brain damage now?"

"I was just letting my anger out, that's all." Callie shrugged and plopped down beside Melissa, who snickered. "That was letting your anger out?"

"Oh, sometimes I just want to kill you!" Callie shrieked. "I just want to kill everybody I know!"

Melissa's eyes widened. "Oh, come on!"

"I do!" Callie exclaimed. "Sometimes I just wanna-"

"No, you don't. If you want to kill, you would have killed me when May went on rampage."

"Oh, really?" Callie's eyes flashed angrily. "We'll see about that!"
