1. Warmth
Lenalee shivered as the cool morning breeze brushed past her. She hated the cold. It made her feel helpless, empty and alone. It was the same as being in the darkness. Lenalee squeezed her eyes shut. She was a little girl when she was brought to the Black Order, she felt like she was in a never-ending nightmare. Everywhere she went and everywhere she looked was cold and dark. There she learned to yearn for the warmth that was nowhere to be found. She began to lose hope with each passing day. But when she found that little light, when she found that her brother had followed her there and was going to stay with her, she felt as if she had finally woken up. That everything until then was no more than a bad dream. She was warm again.
And as the years passed, she met more and more people who gave her different kinds of warmth, the cold Kanda, the happy-go-lucky bookman-in-training Lavi, the uneasy Miranda, the sullen Krory and finally, the innocent Allen, among others. She mused to herself as she continued to gaze at the rising sun in the horizon. The warmth felt nice.
A series of laughter broke her train of thoughts. Lenalee blinked and followed the laughter with her gaze. It seemed Lavi had begun again, he was teasing Allen about various things, everything he found laughable that had happened in their latest journey, and the poor boy could do nothing but stutter and blush. Lenalee giggled.
Allen-kun. Lenalee thought and looked out into the horizon again.
Allen-kun had been but another small puzzle piece in her puzzle board until she got to know him better. There were many sides to him. He had many admirable traits, his courage, his determination and his ability to keep on smiling as if nothing crucial was happening at that very moment. But more than that, his personality radiated warmth. He was warm, very warm.
"Are you okay?"
This time a soft voice shook her from her reverie.
"Allen-kun." She regarded, smiling at him.
"Is anything wrong?" He asked, scratching the back of his head. "Because I saw that you were spacing out and I thought you were thinking about something…painful…again."
Lenalee felt her smile grow bigger and shook her head. "No…nothing." She returned her gaze to the sunrise.
"It's beautiful." She heard Allen comment softly beside her.
"Yes… it is." Lenalee replied enjoying the beautiful view the sunrise was giving them and savoring the comforting warmth that his company brought her.
End.
