Hi… I was pretty inspired by fics of Leaf and Kris and their disappearances in the later games. This is my take on it. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon.

A brunette girl stared at the television. She was watching about the news of Red, the Champion Of Kanto being beaten. She was Leaf, Red's childhood friend and his female counterpart in a sense. Another girl with dark blue pigtails approached her. She was Kris, a friend that Leaf's, with a similar situation.

The both of them were pretty glad that Red had been beaten, as their friend Lyra had beaten him. Another reason was that the two of them were deemed as invisible to many. Leaf and Kris had beaten Team Rocket and beaten their respective region's leagues, but were never acknowledged. Only Lyra had ever noticed them, as she knew Kris since childhood. She was Ethan's counterpart, Gold's younger brother, and she felt bad about it. She didn't like replacing her friend, even of her counterpart wasn't Kris's. She visited them often, as she pitied them.

Lyra never revealed to anyone about the existence of Leaf and Kris. Not even to Gold, Ethan, Red and Blue. She tried to mention Leaf to Blue when she challenged his gym, but he didn't have a single memory her. Hence, Lyra came to the conclusion that even if someone did remember them, their memories were always wiped out after a while. She also deduced that Leaf and Kris were kind of like the shadows of Red and Gold. Doing the same things as them, but never getting acknowledged.

But somehow, Leaf and Kris didn't hate Red and Gold. All they said was "This isn't our story, it's theirs."

Lyra tried to convince them that it was their story too. They had completed the storyline, became the champion, completed the Pokédex and defeated Team Rocket. But Leaf and Kris heard nothing of the words, telling Lyra that it wasn't their story.

Lyra decided to ask Prof. Oak, he was the only person other than Lyra to remember them. Prof. Oak said that it was probably due to the thoughts of people. Red and Gold were males and males were deemed as more powerful in the past. But in modern times, females were also deemed to be in the same ranks of females. But there were people who had the past mind-set about males and females. It was probably why Leaf and Kris were deemed as invisible to many. Prof. Oak took her and Sinnoh League Champion as examples. Both of them were female champions and weren't discriminated against unlike in the past. But Leaf and Kris were "born" into the world with the past views against them.

Lyra asked Prof. Oak if there was any way she could have them acknowledged. She wanted Leaf and Kris to be given credit for all that they have done, but Prof. Oak said that wouldn't what Leaf and Kris would want. They preferred to live normal lives, away from the media and having peaceful and carefree lives. Lyra and Prof. Oak vowed to keep their secret, respecting their wishes. Prof. Oak often called the pair to ask about their well-being. He felt happy seeing them and Lyra , they were like the granddaughters that he never had.

To Leaf and Kris, completing the storyline and not being harassed by the media was a fairytale. To them, the memories were the best reward of all. Perhaps being shadows wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Completed! I really like these kinds of fics, it really portrays the characters in a different light. Please Review!
