Author's note: written as though Amelia is talking directly to you. I don't own anything.
Heart of a Family
Amelia looked out the window and smiled as she saw how wonderful her life had turned out. Outside was her husband Franz working on the land. She waved and smiled at him. He wiped his brow and waved back. Her mother and Duessal were in the kitchen working on the meal. They are such good friends now. Duessal is such a big part of our family and the reason we all live in happiness.
It is crazy how things went after the war. Before the war I was an orphan and always alone and helpless. I joined the Grado army to prove myself and to become strong. I was fighting a war on the wrong side and almost lost my life if not for a certain blonde haired knight. I can still remember that moment when Franz took my hand and asked if I trusted him. He was nice enough to make sure I was safe. He saved me that day. After that we just grew closer and we promised each other we would protect each other. We eventually fell in love and I wasn't alone anymore.
Duessal was also a Grado soldier who turned to our side. I immediately looked up to him as a great warrior. I had always heard of his battle prowess and his loving nature. He cared for people and loved everyone he met. He became like the father or grandfather I never had. My father died at a very young age so in meeting Duessal I finally felt the love of a father. He also did something that I never thought would happen. He reunited me with the mother I thought was lost forever.
When I was very young my father died and my mother raised me alone. She was always sick and very weak. One day bandits broke into our house and kidnapped her. I just hid under my bed trembling. I couldn't save her and I thought she was dead. I never would have dreamed I would see her again.
When Duessal brought me to her I just ran with all my strength toward her. She started sobbing and ran to me too. We embraced and just sat and cried the whole day. We told each other everything that had happened to us. She was strong now and I saw myself in her. She was so beautiful and loving. She explained how awful everyday was that we were apart. Now that we are together I can't imagine life without her.
We make a living selling the crops Franz and Duessal farm. My mother and I make clothes and sell them at the market. Duessal, Franz, and I often put our armor back on to protect the innocents and as mercenaries during a bad time on the farm. This little group of ours has become a strong loving family and I owe it all to a war.
"Amelia, can you call Franz in? Dinner is ready."
"Okay mother we will be right there."
The family all sat down to eat after Duessal said the prayer. Looking around the table I couldn't help but smile. My life is completely perfect. I am surrounded by people who I love and who love me. Franz and I are planning on having a baby soon. After that we are planning to have a reunion with some friends from the war. I can't wait to see what the next couple of years will have in store for us.
