Reimu leaned against the cupboard, her arms crossed, watching her friend Marisa filing through cook books with mild interest. 'So. I didn't know you liked to bake"
"Well I live alone, so I cook for myself of course." Marisa flipped a page "Plus I found some old western recipes from my mom. I kinda have a hankering for some something sweet. Like this berry pie here." She showed Reimu the recipe with the illustration of the lush looking pie "I wanna make it."
"Well, it does look pretty good. Maybe I'll steal a piece from it"
"As if I'd let you!" Marisa joked as she started to take the ingredients for the pastry out of the pantry and the ice box "but yes, you may have some, if you ask politely"
"Then please my dear friend Marisa, May I please have some of your fabulous pie?" Reimu fluttered her dark eyelashes in sarcastic yet playful sweetness.
"But of course you may, my dear friend Reimu" the witch returned in an equal tone "Once the pie is done. Maybe you can help," She took her basket and stepped out to her garden patch, as she did have some berry bushes growing there. Within a few minutes, Reimu was interrupted from her comfortable seat by the sound of Marisa cursing in frustration. Once she found out that all her fruits and vegetables, except for the bitter ones she used in her spells, were ransacked. She recognized the patter of child-sized footprints and the trace of sugary nature magic lingering in the air as the work of fairies, which were most likely the culprits.
Marisa scowled in frustration, slamming a palm to her forehead "All that work and effort maintaining this garden, this fruits aren't common, grr I should've put up a protection spell! I mean its obvious those brats would show up!" she stomped on the ground, magic flickering for a second "and those were a key ingredient for this pie!"
Reimu thought about this predicament "well, I need to go grocery shopping soon. Maybe I could pick up some fruit for you?"
Sounds good." Marisa stood back, calming down from her rant "Thanks Reimu. I'll probably start cooking in like an hour.
"All right, I'll try to bring the berries over by then." Reimu gave a wave goodbye and took off.

About an hour later, as she was almost back at Marisa's cottage, it was Reimu's turn to angrily complain about fairies after they ambushed her and stole the package of fruit she was bringing over. Now, she had no berries to present to Marisa
"Stupid little pests.." she grumbled to herself as she sat down on a log, rubbing her head. She could not help but feel a bit embarrassed. Fairies were quite weak, and she could manage facing a swarm of them with little trouble. But it was trickier then as she had one arm occupied holding a parcel of fruit while the other was throwing the seals. She did not even notice the higher-level fairy, no doubt the ringleader of the gang, coming up behind her to give the finishing blast. Certainly not enough to cause any damage, aside from stunning the shrine maiden a bit and sending her falling.
"Now I don't have any berries to give Marisa. Guess that means no pie." she sighed "How disappointing..." As she leaned back, a fragrant scent caught her attention, coming from the bushes next to her. As she took a look, she found that the source were wild berries. They were gorgeous, luscious blueberries; large, perfectly round and gleaming blue violet in color. Reimu blinked, then grinned with glee.
"Well. Looks like my luck just changed!" She pulled off her sleeves and tied the open ends to form a makeshift bag and began picking as much berries she could. "These will be perfect!" With that, she started to make her way back.
Reimu actually came across Marisa on the path mere moments later The witch let out a low whistle as she saw the berries her friend presented to her "nice, Reimu. You found some really good looking ones! Why are they in your sleeves though?"
"I lost the basket. Anyway, what are you doing out here?"
"I went over to Alice's to see if she had any extra sugar. She didn't" She shrugged. Of course, if her neighbor and fellow witch did have some after all, she'd go and 'borrow' some anyway, even if she said no. "So, let's taste these things first!" Marisa popped a couple berries into her mouth. Her eyes widened at their full, sweet, juicy flavor. "Oh wow. Reimu, these berries are amazing!"
"Really? Let me try!" She took a few and tasted them and was given the same flavors "Yum! These are the best berries I've ever tasted!"
"Same here!" They could not resist snacking on more handfuls are berries as they started to make their way back to Marisa's cottage.
"Ok, maybe that's it for now" Marisa finally reluctantly said, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand, some indigo juice smearing at the corners of her mouth and having gotten onto her white blouse. "We got to save some for the pie"
"Aw. Well I guess you're right" Reimu pouted after one last handful. Admittedly both of them were started to feel fairly full. "You still got juice on your face, you slob"
"So you do." Marisa dabbed the skirt of her apron on her face, but the blue splotches remained.
"Still there." Reimu tried wiping her own face.
"What? Hey, on you too!" They then started feeling a very faint tingle on their skin as the blue started to quickly spread across their face, as well as appearing on their necks, arms, all around their bodies in fact. "Um, Reimu, you're turning blue…"
"Eh?!" she looked down at her hands, and then back at Marisa "So are you!" Their expressions were now a mix of fear at this situation, and amusement as it happened to the other. "W-what's happening to us!"
a realization came upon Marisa and she narrowed her eyes "Reimu, where did you find those blueberries?"
"Fairies stole the ones I originally bought, so I found these in the woods and picked them."
"What?!" Marisa looked a bit angry with that, which was rare for her "You Moron! You never directly eat untreated anything picked in the forest of magic!"
"I thought they were just blueberries!"
" Even if it looks like a normal something edible! It's most likely infused with magic, who knows what unusual effect it could have!" Marisa huffed and continued on. By now, both girls' skin were completely blue, the same shade as the blueberries "I've gotta look for how to fix this now.. you're lucky it only turned us blue , and not a worse effect_" a dulled pain suddenly shot through her stomach, causing her to wrap her arms around her stomach in discomfort.
So did Reimu "ugh… now what!" A very strange feeling came over them…
