Helpless

One night he finds her. She's shocked and scared, but then he looks into her eyes and tells her not to be afraid. Caroline knows the feeling all too well. After all Damon did the same thing to her over and over again.

He's asking her to give him information and do things. Things that felt like betrayal, but she doesn't have the strength or willpower to resist. It's going on for a while and soon turns into something more. She starts sharing his bed and searching him out.

By then, Caroline has gotten so used to his compulsion that it takes her a while to realize that she does all of this out of her own free will. She doesn't go to see him again.

It's harder than expected. She is scared to death of him coming for her, punishing her. When he doesn't, she feels another feeling grow in her stomach. One she knows recognizes – disappointment.

It's wrong. She shouldn't miss him or be angry that he just used her to spy on her friends, especially since there was never any indication that he cared for her at all. So she mopes and drinks all of Damon's scotch out of spite. Nothing helps and Caroline knows when it's time to give up.

When she finds him he silently looks at her for a moment before giving her the slightest of smiles.

"I had hoped you would come back."
