It was just a box. Faded patterns on its sides didn't betray that it held a part of his life. Kurt brushed the dust from the lid and opened it slowly. So many memories fought for his attention. His hand sure, he picked a small green envelope with a stupid pirate doodled on it. It wasn't sealed, just tucked in.

"I'm sick of this, Sebastian. Ever since you showed up back in Lima, you only harass Blaine and me. Why can't you behave like a normal person? I thought I knew you."

Sebastian smirked and turned to walk away.

"I'm talking to you." Kurt grabbed for Sebastian's left wrist to stop him but he missed just a little. His fingers slipped under the sleeve and instead caught on some bracelet. Sebastian yanked his arm away, the chain snapping and falling down.

Both their eyes focused on the little piece of jewellery lying on the floor.

For a moment Kurt froze, looking at the silver K that adorned the chain, before he lifted his eyes to Sebastian.

"Bas..." his mind automatically slipped to the nickname.

Sebastian shivered when he heard it, eyelids falling shut for a few seconds.

Then he snapped out of it and quickly snatched the bracelet from the floor. An angry expression on his face, he hastily strode off without a word.

"Bas..."

Carefully, he eased the envelope open and poured the content onto his palm. There was a piece of leather string as he knew well. Worn and split, it held a silver pendant. The promise of never forgetting.

Kurt stroked the S on his palm lightly with his thumb. He never forgot. He'd tried to make himself but the what if had always been there. It was just that nobody had ever told him it would be so complicated when it turned to what now.
