A/N: companion fic to 'Reign' might wanna read that first. Watch me dodge theories on this and fumble to write a female pov.

The voices are screeching.

It was so so so quiet, but now screams and whispers and taunts are clouding her brain.

Audrey breathes.

The scepter is still pulsing, still shimmering, how could it still be doing that?

It's messing with her head and chilling her bones. It's a last warning. Chad is behind her, eyes watching carefully. They're green now, just like hers, like Maleficent's.

The power oh the power.

It's fueling her, making her blood run hot even as her bones are cold, the perfectly wicked combination.

She remembers all those lessons. "Princesses don't worry about blood. Princesses don't say wicked."

How many times would she hear that now? Now that the screams will be real and castles will burn.

Her fingertips grace the glass, eyes staring into it. I am Maleficent now, obey me.

Chad is watching, as she throws the staff to him, she doesn't need it anymore, and circles the item of intrest. This, this is what she needs. Her eyes glint with malice and terror, twirling a lock of pink hair as her eyes glow. Her head is pounding, but she can't think of that now.

She can tell that Mal and the others are outside, pleading and begging but their voices are drowned out by the ones in her head. This... this is rightfully hers, a weapon only she can wield.

Her hand comes back with blood, and Audrey reaches up, a bump, no two, no those are bumps...

The scepter hisses gleefully and she smiles. Maleficent, it whispers. Green magic folds and forms in her hands, shooting out to block the door.

The cage next to her shudders and groans. The glass is breaking, and suddenly the sounds remind her of that yardstick, when she wasn't perfect, wasn't pretty enough.

She pushes the thoughts away, now is not the time, and places her hands gently on the wood, twisting and watching as the spindle comes off without a second glance.

Green magic swarms around the object, happily remembering what it is and filling it with poison, giving the time a small glimmer before it fades.

Audrey turns, and realized Chad thinks she'll use it on him. Oh dear. That won't do. Whatever happened to his bout of courage before? Maleficent's scepter grins in her mind, making Chad's eyes glow green and he smiles.

"Are we ready?" He asks.

"Of course my love."

Audrey turns, smashing the glass with the spindle, and Maleficent's wings stir to life once more.
