This was a drabble, and now its kind of just a longer drabble. idk, I wrote most of this at like four in the morning so if it doesnt make sense i apologize and i will fix it later.

Sam had gotten shot in the back.

They were clearing a building he thought his rookie had checked the room. He had his back turned for no longer than a minute before shots were fired. He hit the ground hard, losing consciousness momentarily. When he came to the room had been secured and the paramedics were all over him. His vest had done its job and he insisted he was ok but Best insisted that he go to the hospital for x-rays.

"Don't tell Andy, it will only freak her out." was his only request to Gail as he was put in to the back of an ambulance.

She was in court all day. Easy case really, just time consuming. No cell phones, no books to pass her boredom. Just endless testimony that she had to listen to and take part in. Her part of the case had only lasted about half an hour but it was insisted that she stayed.

"Andy, what are you doing here?" Traci asked upon seeing her in the locker room.

"I was in court all day, just came by to drop off some paper work." She said nonchalantly while she opened her locker.

"Hey." The seriousness in Traci's voice made Andy stop what she was doing and turn towards her. "You didn't hear?"

"Hear what?" Andy was thoroughly worried now.

"It's Sam. He was shot. It hit his vest but he went in for x-rays. The hospital sent him home with pain meds about an hour ago."

While Andy was worried about Sam she knew he was probably long asleep in his bed. "Ok, I'm going to run home and change and then go over there. Thanks Traci." Andy grabbed her things and rushed out the door.

All the way to her apartment she questioned whether or not she should go straight over to his house but decided against it. He will be asleep anyway. I shouldn't worry unnecessarily.

Andy didn't expect to find him lying in her bed when she got off shift but after a second thought it didn't surprise her. They had been spending almost all their free time together lately.

He was laying face down with his head off to the side of the pillow his face was buried in. He didn't have a shirt on and the blanket was pulled down to his waist and Andy could already see the damage. There was a wide variety of colors, black blue and even a little yellow around the edges.

She went to the side of the bed and lightly placed her hand where the blanket stopped. He was breathing steadily and she would have thought he was asleep except that his head moved to look at her.

His face was covered in sleep and showed no pain although she knew he was probably in a lot. She remembered the days after taking a bullet herself where she couldn't even put shoes on because bending over was too painful.

He reached out his arm and pulled her down to lay next to him.
She quickly discarded her shoes and lay on her side facing him.

"How are you doing?" She whispered, breaking the silence.

"Better now that you're here." He said, voice gruff with sleep.
