Drabble I.
Though Not Danger, We Can Banish Fear
Three virile figures stood poised in front of the Dark Door, the first an evident leader with a head of dark hair, valiantly positioned in front of the latter two. In his gloved hand he held Andúril, the royal sword that, if needed, could prove his authority to those who questioned it.
Yet, fearless as they all were, they still took the time to eye the door with deep deliberation; one that would lead them into both the realms of the White Mountains and into the Dead's perils. The limbless skulls of those whom had fallen long ago lay incised into the potholed walls of the entrance to the Paths of the Dead, yet this did not faze the three affiliates. Heed they did the tales behind this very course, there were intents behind their journey that they were there to fulfil. A destiny that rested upon their wearied shoulders. For these very reasons, Aragorn knew there was no time to dwell on insignificant matters such as one's wellbeing like his fellow companions wished to do, though they did not fear it - just merely probed their safety for when they descended into the gloom that lay behind the Dark Door. As the two other travellers mulled over possibilities of a fateful aftermath, Aragorn simply looked back at his windblown companions once more - an expressionless Legolas and a red-faced Gimli - before striding towards the passage that lay before them, his head held high and his lips drawn into a thin line. Leaving them temporarily without their spirited leader, he vanished into the darkness of the passage, but not before speaking gallant words that could, without a doubt, change his fate. Their fate.
"I do not fear death."
A/N: So, just to clear it up, I'm taking completely random scenes from all of the films/books and putting them in no particular order to create short drabbles and vignettes, obviously depending on the word count. I guess it's more a description sort of thing, rather than an AU, because I don't want to elaborate too much on what could happen if I created my own plot lines. So, obviously, this little vignette was from The Return of the King. Just to make sure that no one was confused about such an intermittent order. I'm a little apprehensive on this one here because I'm not familiar with drabbles really, so any thoughts will be appreciated immensely. Thank you for reading :)
