"What do you want for our anniversary, Esme?"
"Well, you don't have to get anything. Just existing is the best gift you could ever give me."
"What should I get for Esme for our wedding anniversary? She keeps telling me not to get her anything."
Alice said "She says she wants a puppy, she just didn't want to tell you."
Carlisle groaned, though Alice had her rabbit on her lap. Thumper got along with everyone well enough, though she got on best with Alice and Jasper.
Emmett said "A dog? Esme wants a dog? Thumper makes me hungry all the time, why a dog?"
Rose said "It's a Golden Labrador puppy she wants. Y'know, as if it were her baby, like Ali and Jazz."
Esme came in.
"Don't you badger Carlisle about a puppy! If he doesn't want a dog, we are not having a dog!"
Suddenly, he felt instantly guilty. He knew she wanted a puppy. That's what she was getting. Edward smiled at him and so did Alice.
They told their partners and of course, Rosalie and Emmett. Esme backed out of the room slowly, thinking they were crazy.
Carlisle said "OK, that's settled. She's getting her puppy. Ali, are you going to pick Esme's perfect puppy out?"
"I'll need Edward's mind reading talent to know which puppy has the same frame of mind as Esme. Like good at running and planning and being friendly."
That's exactly what they did.
The morning of their anniversary, Esme came downstairs to make food for Jacob and Seth. She saw a huge card box on the table, ventilated.
"Carlisle? Why is there a gigantic card box on the dining room table?"
He was behind her in seconds.
"It's all yours, darling. Go ahead and open it up."
He pushed her to it. She looked up at him and rolled her eyes.
"Nothing will bite me, will it?"
"No, darling. Not like it'd hurt you, though. Just open the thing."
She lifted the ventilated lid and squeaked. A tiny sandy coloured puppy with huge brown eyes stared up at her.
"Carlisle! What?"
"This is for you. She's yours. Happy anniversary, Esme Anne Cullen."
She lifted the puppy and it licked her cheek.
"It's OK, Alice cleaned the puppy's teeth."
"Aw, how sweet!"
"Are you going to give her a name?"
"I like the name Sandy. Because she looks very sandy."
"It's perfect. Just like you."
Now they had a puppy and a bunny. Crazy, but very cute.

And that's what happens on a vampire anniversary. A puppy is very different to the flowers and chocolate thingy, right? R&R! Random Dizzy. :D
