And the tolling stopped. He paused momentarily before bowing his head, his heart pounding as if he'd just run a marathon.

Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.

The subway train shot towards him - the driver's face was a mask of horror, trying desperately to stop, to screech to a halt.

Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.

It only took 10 seconds for the beating to stop, and Michelangelo was gone from the world.

Donny POV

It was dusk when the two boys returned from the funeral. You could hardly call them boys- sadness had seeped into their faces creating hard lines across the green skin. I leaned my back against the damp cold sewer wall hoping the chill would relieve my lethargy. Leonardo had gone to his room as soon as they came home. His bedroom door closing by the time I had even walked in. I rose slowly before looking around the now desolate family room.

"Oh master splinter, if only you were here, " I sighed out loud.

"I am my son," a voice echoed. I turned to search for its source when a loud bang came screaming into my ears. Smoke began to pour out of Leo's room as I dashed toward the inferno, the phantom voice forgotten in my panic .

Frustration began to seize me as I jiggled the door know forcefully.

*bam*

The noise only spurred be desperation as I threw my shoulder into the door, ripping it forcefully from it's frame.

"Leo!," I yelled, my voice lost in the grey smoke. A faint cough was all that responded. I ran towards the wheezing, only to find a picture of horror. Burns told a terrible story across Leonardo's evergreen body- a sadistic tale punctuated by the dullness of his round eyes.

"Leo-," I croaked, falling to my knees beside him. His body had already smothered out the flames and the mist now shrouded his body. The only sound that could be heard over my misery was a faint whisper of Leo's

" I will be with him now- with him forever," he said breathily , before his heartbeat faded away with his words.
