I was a pokemon addict

I once turned on my TV,
What fun it was to see,
little creatures all over the screen.
There was pikachu, squirtle
(a vicious little turtle),
some were cute, some decidedly mean.
I thought hey this rules,
This series is cool.
I watched it every single day without fail.
But it got way out of hand,
I was in pokemon land,
in stores where merchandise was on sale.
The rarest pokemon cards,
were watched by armed guards
And the plushies multiplied every day.
There were games and sweets,
pikachu PJ's and sheets.
pokemon exploited in every way
The world was obsessed,
And getting quite stressed,
If they couldn't manage to catch 'em all.
But I have to confess,
I was also in a mess.
And when mewtwo got away, how I bawled.
I was a pokemon addict
worse than a convict
I actually liked those freak things
But now I've recovered
because I've discovered
The magic of Lord Of The Rings!
