Hello everyone
This isn't my first fanfiction but for all practical purposes it is. The other two one-shots were just the testing grounds, as I felt my way around here.
I am an Indian. Why is this significant you may ask. Well, firstly, the fic will definitely have many Indian quotients (especially w.r.t. the character development) and hence lack the 'Englishness' to a great degree.
The fic is an L/J fic in an AU. The story is inspired from an Indian movie 'Dil Se' meaning 'With Heart' (it's the literal translation but you can also consider it to be 'With all my Heart'). Though the inspiration, is the movie mentioned above, the plot and the settings will be drastically different in many places. Hopefully the fic will also give many of you some insights to the wonderfully diverse Indian culture.
Disclaimer: The characters belong to J.K.Rowling.
Prologue:
It's the last place he wanted to be in.
The white marble tomb, standing on a square plinth consisting of a symmetrical building with an iwan, an arch-shaped doorway, topped by a large dome, reminded him of the thing he sorely lacked.
And James Potter lacked very few things in life. Being the only son of the distinguished 'Potter' family, he had the best of everything. His life seemed to be perfect and yet he was unhappy. He, himself couldn't understand the reason behind his depression.
He was jolted awake from his doldrums, when a young couple requested him to take their snap with the 'Taj Mahal' in the background. He obliged. Normally, he would have been fascinated by the 'Digital camera' in his hand but not today. After taking the requested picture, he started to move quickly towards the exit.
He scowled as the irony of the situation hit him. His local guide had looked at the marble marvel proudly and had commented in his distinct Indian accent, that James had become accustomed to, over the past couple of days that the 'Taj Mahal was not merely a piece of architecture, as other buildings are, but the proud passions of an emperor wrought in living stones. He, James Potter, had the money to build another 'Taj Mahal' or atleast a model representation of it in priceless gems but did not have the 'eternal love' to share it with.
Hope you liked this chapter. This chapter was really small and I had written a longer version before this but I wanted the readers to get comfortable with the settings before I move forward with the plot. I always love fics that leave certain things to the reader's imagination and I will try to do just that. I am eagerly awaiting your feedbacks and suggestions.
