"...of the happy couple" a young energetic artist said to Rapunzel and Hiccup as they walked by.
"Oh we aren't a couple" said Rapunzel as she blushed a little, this was the fifth time someone had mistaken her and Hiccup for more than just friends, "Besides think we are almost out of money anyways" The artist shrugged and went to get another customer.
"Now hold on a sec" Hiccup said as he caught Rapunzel's wrist before she could continue to walk away, "I haven't gotten your birthday present yet today"
"Oh you don't have to do that Hiccup" Rapunzel said politely, "You've done so much for me already" And she wasn't being modest, with him taking her in when she washed up on the shore of Berk, introduced her to a secret world she could never imagine, and now here they were him flying her to the place where she can experience her lifelong dream. He was just simply amazing like that.
"All the more reason for me to" Hiccup exclaimed, "I think the girl who helped change my life completely should get something to remember this adventure, for whatever decision you make"
Rapunzel knowing that Hiccup's stubborn Viking nature wouldn't get them anywhere, unless she agreed to him. "Alright you win"
Hiccup smiled brightly as he went over and tapped the artist on the shoulder, "We will take that painting of us actually"
"Wonderful!" the artist exclaimed as he pulled Hiccup over to his little nature scene he had set up for his portraits. He pushed Hiccup down onto the ground right in front of a rock, "You'll sit there, and the pretty young lady..." He eyed a Rapunzel, "Will sit on the gentlemen's lap"
Rapunzel felt her face heat up as she walked over and sat on Hiccup's lap like she was told too. The artist stepped back to get a better view, he rubbed his chin, "The lady drop of...frying pan lower and the guy, put your arm around her waist, and both of you give me some bug smiles"
The guy was just making it better for the two of them as Hiccup shyly laid his arm on Rapunzel's tiny waist. Now that the artist was satisfied, he stood back to his easel and began to paint.
At first, both of them were highly uncomfortable with the position they were in, but after a while Rapunzel felt as she didn't need to be so stiff and relaxed more against Hiccup. And as for him, well even with people coming to stop and watch, he also relaxed and tighten his grip on Rapunzel's waist. When the two of them were about to give out on holding their smiles for so long, the artist had told them that he was finished.
The two of them went over to the canvas, and Rapunzel couldn't help but laugh. The amazing detail in this had captured Hiccup's usual cute crooked smile perfectly and much to her appreciation, if her face had been red for blushing, the painting didn't show it.
"That will be ten copper pieces" the artist said, and Hiccup reached into the leather pouch and produced the money. "Thank you for your service" He said as he handed the portrait to Rapunzel, "And I have a feeling I will be painting another one of you two very soon"
Hiccup shook his head in recognizing something that Rapunzel didn't, but she simply took Hiccup's arm, and the two headed on their way.
"This was the most perfect birthday ever Hiccup" Rapunzel said sincerely, "Thank you so much"
"Well don't thank me yet" said Hiccup as he looked to the sky, the sunning was setting into the pink sky now, "It's not over yet" Hiccup grabbed Rapunzel's hand and began to lead her to the place where they led Toothless. Then, Hiccup would give his best friend the greatest view of the floating lanterns than she could ever imagine.
