"Watch out, guys! Kongrels at six o'clock – release the navskids, Aelita!"
She nodded to herself, preparing the large ship for battle. She increased the shields and loaded the torpedoes for the smaller ships. Reaching out for the small levers, she stopped herself – again. It happened every single time. No one else paid any attention to her stalling, but it felt like years for Aelita. She moved her third finger away from one of the levers and pulled the rest, releasing Yumi, Odd and Ulrich away for battle against the electric eels.
"I'm ready to take on X.A.N.A and his monsters!"
She programmed the fourth navskid for his sake, much to Jeremié's dismay. That navskid only made the programming of the large ship take longer, but Aelita insisted. Every time the warriors took a step on the transportation plateaus, she'd glance at the one empty space while waiting to be energized. That one empty space she believed that one day would be used.
"Great job, everybody! Now anchor yourselves to the skid, time for all of you to come home,"
Aelita watched the open digital sea as the others attached their pods to the ship, Jeremié's voice a mumble at the back of her head.
"Not all of us... but one day, we'll bring you back William."
Attempting to hide her sullen look after the mission with the Skid, she was not left ignored. Yumi placed a hand on her shoulder, a morose look in her eyes.
"We'll find him."
