Author's Note: My first Neville/Ginny fanfiction, it's a one shot. :) Harry is gone
just like in Deathly Hallows, this is just a mid-year fic between Neville/Ginny. :)
I don't remember what I was thinking when I saw her, I don't remember what happened after I kissed her either, but that's okay, because I remember everything that happened in between.
That night I ran across Ginny Weasley sitting beside the lake, the moon casting her in a silver light, she looked so sad. A cloak was wrapped tightly around her thin frame, I could tell that she was losing weight, I knew why too. I couldn't just stand and stare at her from the Greenhouses though, I had to do something, say something, anything. With a deep sigh I closed my eyes and counted to three before I headed over in her direction.
I didn't realize that Ginny was crying until I was about ten feet away, but it was too late to turn around. She snapped her head in my direction and frowned before laughing shyly, "Oh, hi Neville," I don't know what came over me, "I was just-I-I-" but she couldn't say anymore, tears streamed down her face and she turned to look back at the lake.
"Ginny," I rushed to her side, grass stains appearing on my pants, "you don't have to say anything, shh." I was doing my best to console her and it was working a little, she had her head on my shoulder and she was crying into my shirt, I wasn't bothered by it though. "It'll be okay, Ginny," I stroked her head and I could feel her tears seeping through my shirt, all I wanted to do was pick her up and carry her back to the common room.
"I just-I just miss him," she stuttered out and I knew who she was talking about. "How could he just leave me here?" I was beginning to hate what Harry had done, but I couldn't say anything. "And-and he doesn't wr-wr-write to me." For a moment I thought I'd cry along with her, but I just rubbed her back. "Th-thank you, Neville," she pulled away from me, a sad smile on her lips and tears staining her cheeks. I don't remember what I was thinking, but I kissed her.
It was out of nowhere and Ginny was taken by surprise, her body tensed up, but after a couple seconds she got into the kiss and returned the passion. She was so angry and so sad that she poured all of her emotions into that kiss, I could taste the salt from her tears and feel her wet cheek against mine.
When I pulled away from Ginny there were pools in her eyes just waiting to fall, "Thank you," she said oddly strong, "for everything." I nodded, knowing what she meant. Ginny Weasley would always love Harry Potter, no matter what I did or said would change her mind, but I was okay with that.
She kissed me.
