Author's Note- Hey Guys. Just saw the season finale of Greys Anatomy and I'm so sad Stephanie is leaving. :( However, at least they didn't kill her off. I loved the friendship between her and Amelia and after seeing Caterina's Instagram post I just needed to write this. It's very short but I hope you enjoy it.

Title- Superheroes

Summary- After her decision to leave the hospital Stephanie makes one last phone call.

Stephanie Edwards slowly opened her eyes and looked around, momentarily confused. She looked down at her arms and it suddenly all came rushing back to her. The psychotic patient, the fire, the smoke, Erin. She also remembered telling Richard Webber she needed to take some time to travel. She took a deep breath as she thought about leaving the hospital. She thought about all the people that had been important to her. Amelia Shepard being one of the biggest influences. She wouldn't be the bright neurosurgeon she was if it wasn't for Amelia. Deciding she needed to thank her before she left, she pressed the call button. Jackson who was walking by walked in.

"Hey Edwards how are you feeling?" The plastic surgeon asked smiling.

"As good as I can be. Can you do me a favor?" Edwards asked softly.

"Of course. What can I do?" Jackson mused.

"Grab my phone for me and FaceTime Dr. Shepard. I know she's busy but I need to say goodbye." Stephanie replied.

Jackson nodded, grabbing the phone from the table and pressing FaceTime under Amelia's name. He sat down on the metal chair by Stephanie's bed and held the phone up to her face.

"Stephanie." Amelia's worried face appeared on the screen. "Are you ok? Meredith told me what happened."

"Yeah, yeah I'm ok." Stephanie smiled, tears already prickling her eyes.

"Good, I'm glad. I can't have my best nuero goddess not be able to do surgery." Amelia chuckled.

Edwards laughed softly, fighting back tears. "I, uh, I've decided to take some time off Dr. Shepard. I, I need to travel, see the world. I can't be stuck in a hospital forever."

Amelia felt tears in her own eyes. She looked at the woman on the screen for a long time. "Stephanie." She started, "I know we've had our ups and downs and I know I haven't treated you the best at times. But I want you to know how proud I am of you. You are one of the brightest, most talented neurosurgeons I know. I completely understand why you want to take some time off. But just know that if you ever want to operate again, I want you on my team. We're superheroes remember?" Amelia laughed through her tears.

Stephanie smiled through her wet eyes, "I wouldn't be the neurosurgeon I am today if it weren't for you Dr. Shepard. Thank you for all you've taught me. It's been an honour to work with you."

"Stephanie, you are the neurosurgeon you are because you were willing to learn, you were willing to put the work in." Amelia smiled. "And secondly, call me Amelia. No more of this Dr. Shepard."

Stephanie laughed, "Ok Amelia. Thank you."

"I love you Superhero Stephanie." Amelia smiled, tears filling her eyes again.

"I love you too Superhero Amelia." Stephanie chuckled through her tears.

As they waved at each other and ended the call, Edwards was glad they hadn't said goodbye. Because she knew it wasn't goodbye. It was "See you later." Because the thing about superheroes is they're always together, standing side by side with their hands on their hips, ready to take on anything.
