I never did believe the Obito theory.
But I used it for this story because I wanted to do something along these lines
Tobi sat in the lounge room with a wet mask and deep thoughts.
He had woken up on the couch, having fallen asleep during movie night, to find that someone (Probably Deidara and Hidan) had drawn on his mask again.
Sighing, he had stood and stiffly stretched while he walked to the bathroom to wash off his mustache, hastily drawn eye patch, clown nose and lipstick.
He had to give them credit… He actually looked pretty funny…
After scrubbing his mask Tobi marched back out to the lounge room and sat back down.
The place he had been sitting was no longer warm from his body heat, but still held his imprint.
Crossing his arms behind his head, Tobi closed his eyes and thought about life.
He couldn't remember anything.
He remembered opening his eyes and seeing red, a blurry outline of a plant (Which he now knew to be Zetsu) and then darkness again.
"Wonder what made him help me…" Tobi murmured to himself
"Maybe he felt bad?"
"No he couldn't have felt bad, you know who we are talking about."
"I suppose…" Tobi trailed off in thought.
Behind him, Konan wasn't surprised to hear his one sided conversation. It happened often. She was however, beginning to wonder why.
"Why do you talk to yourself?" She wondered to him aloud.
"You're just jealous because I'm the only one the voices talk to." Tobi grinned, having heard the saying somewhere, but not quite sure where. Konan looked amused as well.
"But really, why?" She asked in all seriousness.
Tobi lowered his head and replied monotonously,
"The only reason I talk to myself is because I'm the only one whose answer I accept…"
Strangely philosophical for Tobi, Konan had thought. Nothing like his usual strange and bouncy self.
Konan recalled a time when Pein was angry at him…
"Why are you sitting there eating ice cream, how can you be happy when we are in the middle of a war zone!" Pein had screeched.
Tobi had looked up from his bowl, with ice cream on his mask and had replied,
"You cant buy happiness… But you can buy ice cream… And that's pretty much the same thing."
Konan looked at the boy in front of her again. He radiated a carefree and bouncy attitude, but his eye gave him away.
He had the same look in his eye that Konan had seen a hundred times over.
"What happened to you family?"
Tobi looked at her like she was stupid. Everyone knew that he didn't remember.
A voice drifted over the buzz of the fan and answered for him.
"Every species usually produces more offspring than they can take care of. I think Tobi was one of those, un."
Konan scowled at Deidara, who had entered the room seconds earlier. Tobi just accepted it.
"Whats wrong with Tobi?" Konan growled back defensively.
Deidara just shrugged and shook his head.
"Can you imagine 4 or 5 Tobi's at once, all living together? Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers."
Konan opened her mouth angrily to reply when she was cut off by Tobi standing and leaving the room.
Her and Deidara watched as he picked up a ball off the wooden desk next to the door frame and with perfect precision and aim, hit Deidara in the head.
Deidara looked up in suprise, slightly taken aback that Tobi could and would accomplish something of the sort.
Rubbing a spot on his head that was beginning to bruise, he scowled as Tobi grinned and called out.
"I'm not stupid."
Before turning on his heel, very much satisfied, and walking away.
