ten after two.

"stay. don't go. i'll eat you up; i love you so."

he moved on; she stayed lingering in the doorway. it was the same old story, ever since they were younger.

('he just had a delusional dream, that's all.' they would say. she would ask what delusional meant. all she got in return was a chuckle.)

"maybe we should take a break." he said later on, giving her one of his stares. it wasn't the same one she would get when he's happy for her, it's the one he gives team plasma. it makes her a little bit sick.

(how did she sink so low?)

"okay." she replied, shrugging ever so slightly. he frowned at her lack of interest (or she assumed) and said nothing at all.

(maybe that was their relationship: nothing.)

they stayed in tensed silence before the ring of his xtransceiver saved him.

('my sister had fallen ill.' he explained later on. yeah, right. she was fine and dandy when she came out hollering about mankeys before their talk.)

he came back though, after the team plasma junk. he wasn't the same hue as before, he was someone different. it made her a little sad, she was still mei.

happyhappyhappymei.

(not when the whole world rested on your shoulders and your best friend abandons you.)

"i'll repay you for being a good friend." he said, giving her an awkward hug. she didn't respond but flew off on her flygon, words ringing through her head.

friendfriendfriend.

(were they just that?)

"you've changed." he murmured one day, hoping that she wouldn't hear. she gave him a long stare, the corners of her lips pulled down.

(she didn't smile anymore. what's the point?)

"i was always the one to blame, huh?" she finally said.

he didn't answer. he didn't know what to say.

(he never knew what to say.)
