A/N: Hello,
I've been a bit out of fanfic writing for a few weeks now, haven't really had any inspiration so in order to combat this I have set myself a challenge. I have randomly selected ten songs from my iPod and I am writing fics based around some of the lyrics. The lyrics will appear at the beginning of the fic
This is number one.
All fics will be published under the title of the song (even if the title doesn't make any sense, he he) and I'll upload them as soon as they are written.
1. Eternity by Anathema (Hollyoaks- Doug Carter)
- This fic is set Christmas Eve 2011 when Doug attempts suicide.
A flood of tears bonding my soul with my mind.
A dream of love, reality closing in behind.
As I close my eyes, the vision dies
as I bid my last farewell to mankind.
The December night was cold but he didn't care. He didn't care about much anymore. He just wanted to stop feeling so alone. He had no-one to talk to, no-one to listen to him. He was staring down a black void and there was no way out other than the option facing him.
He clutched the photograph in his hand as he drunkenly clambered onto the railings of the bridge, tears falling down his cheeks. He just couldn't do this anymore. He couldn't go on. He'd lost what meant most to him, Bex, in the most horrible way and he didn't want to live when there was nothing to live for.
The last few days had been torture for him. He'd never felt so alone, so lost. Even when he was around people all he could think about was Bex and how he'd failed her; how he could have done something, anything, to save her.
Then everyone had left. They all had other plans for Christmas and he was more alone than ever. This gave him more time to dwell on his thoughts and he felt his depression increase. He didn't want to be alone. The alcohol had only exacerbated these feelings and before he knew it the suicidal feelings had overtaken the rational part of him.
He felt drawn to the bridge. The icy waters below him looked inviting in his current state. More tears fell down his cheeks as he contemplated his next move. Taking one final deep breath to steel himself; he threw the photograph to one side and dropped from the railings into the dark depths beneath and hopefully peace.
