Maria(16) - Loves training, hand-to-hand combat, hiking, and learning new things. Adventurous, sarcastic, acts like a smart-ass, a bit direction challenged, More to her personality later on.
Prologue: It's a girl!
After hours of labor, a baby is brought into the world. It's silent, not making a sound. The doctor hands off the child quickly, preparing to give the woman bad news. Suddenly, more contractions come.
"Another?!", The doctor's incredulous voice echos in the large room.
This baby cries loudly. The nurse towels off the child and hands it over to its mother.
"It's a girl.", The new mother failed to see the nurse's forced smile.
The baby girl stares up at her mother with pale blue eyes. A scruff of white-blonde hair covers the baby's head.
"Maria.", The young mother sighs happily. "Her name is Maria. My precious little Maria."
"I'm sorry.", The doctor interrupts the moment of joy. "But the other child did not make it."
The young mother sobs and hugs her daughter tightly to herself.
"At least I still have her.", The women cries silently. "I won't let anything happen to you, Maria. I promise.
