Nobody 'til You, a lost fanfic

This is a song-fic about Sawyer and how he secretly feels toward Kate. It goes to the song Nobody 'til You, by Lindsay Lohan.

Never walked on water
Never saw a reason to be

Sawyer looked at Kate, preparing her tent for bed. He smirked over at her, and returned his gaze to the ocean. He thought that maybe, if Kate would come stay with him when they were rescued, he could hide her from the police, and they'd marry. Maybe she could be his first real girl.

He looked back to Kate. She pulled out of her tent and looked over at Sawyer. She smiled, then stood up and walked off. The smirk on his face disappeared along with Kate. He didn't care about where she was going, only if she would come back. He sighed and looked out at the water again. He felt like smoking, but he knew Kate didn't like him smoking, so he resisted the urge and pulled the pack out of his pocket. He looked down at them, then threw them into the ocean. He knew he had more in his tent, but also that this was the first step to quitting.

Sawyer turned as he heard Kates footsteps approaching him. "What is it, Freckles?" He asked her, his smirk rising again. She smiled and rolled her eyes.

"Jack wanted to know if you had any lotion in your tent... someone got a bad case of nothing, and Jack's trying to calm him down by doing a fake treatment." Sawyer laughed a little at this. He reached in and pulled one out. He offered it to Kate, but before she could grab it, he pulled it away.

"What do I get for it?" He asked. Kate smiled again and kissed Sawyer quickly on the cheek. "That's it?" He asked. She laughed and took the bottle, running back over to Jack. The smirk on his face slowly melted into a longing grin.

Sawyer watched Kate disappear along the beach and told himself never to tell Kate what he really thought of her. She wouldn't believe him, anyway.
